Autobiography? A VERY bad idea
editPlease do not write or add to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:47, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
I have edited Barry Gusterson, using much of your suggested text. Please note that additional content may be added, as long as it is cited and complies with the Biographies of living persons policy, and that existing text may be edited or removed by anyone, and no one person, including the subject of the article, owns the article or needs to be consulted or to approve changes.
Also, the text you submitted was sourced to the web pages of institutions with which the subject is or was affiliated. These are not considered independent sources. If you know of additional published reliable sources that are independent of the subject, please mention them at Barry Gusterson#Sources. Such additional sources would be very helpful. Without them uncited content may be removed fairly shortly.
Assuming that you are in fact the subject or a person closely identified with the subject, please read our conflict of interest guideline and in future make suggestions for changes at Barry Gusterson, rather than directly editing the article. You can use the template {{request edit}} on the article talk page to call attention to any suggested changes. DES (talk) 15:22, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
Also, if you are in possession of a photograph of Professor Gusterson that is or can be licensed under a free license, it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons at this page. Note that a free license should be one of those listed at Commons:Copyright tags, and will generally give anyone in the world permission to display, reproduce, and create modified versions or derivative works based on the licensed work, for any purpose. I would recommend the Creative Commons license CC-BY-SA version 3.0 license, but many other choices are accepted. DES (talk) 16:06, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
