While I was away.

Hi Barts1a. I've just left Arcandam a long note[1] about what happened (though it didn't last long [2]) and in it, I mentioned I would discuss a few matters with you.

  • "Gravedancing". I've seen you do this a number of times, and it's clearly becoming a problem. I've had to warn another user severely for posting inappropriately to editors who were blocked or had left permenantly, and I'd really rather you didn't end up going down that route. I know you've acknowledged the other editors who've raised this issue with you, so I won't go on about it too much, but please, think thrice about any edits you make on a blocked users page. If it's in the least bit snide, I might just pop up and block you.
  • There were two edits where you made reverts. In both cases Arcandam was correct, here I believe the problem was that the review was for a different computer, and here it doesn't say that the school is closed (though the building is likely to be). They're not major issues, but please do try to be more careful in future.
  • Generally suggesting someone should look up anger management classes is not the best thing to do. For one thing, you are assuming that they are angry and that they cannot handle the anger. For another, you're assuming that the classes would work for them, so you're offering advice on their health. It's generally just a bad idea.

I think that's everything. You were uncivil in the whole Arcandam situation, it'd be much better to report the editor to me (or another neutral admin), and then just walk away. I understand it was stressful and a difficult situation, and I want to say, I'm impressed at how much you've improved and how well (overall) you handled the matter. Enjoy your wikibreak, and I'll see you when you get back. WormTT(talk) 15:43, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Don't worry, I won't revert this message on sight (I can handle constructive criticism!) :P
Anyway, I'll take this advice to heart (The "Gravedancing" thing doubly so!) and I have corrected the school thing to clarify that it has been relocated (They already got transportable buildings setup on one of the ovals of the local high school in order to house students (See http://www.inmycommunity.com.au/news-and-views/local-news/Lessons-on-oval-after-school-destroyed/7627117/ ). I actually went to MLPS during my primary schooling so it's a little bit personal for me... Barts1a / Talk to me / Help me improve 22:06, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
As the person who tried (unsuccessfully) to mediate this, I'd like to say that I didn't find you overly uncivil, but you should have disengaged far sooner than you actually did. This started with a comment you left on Arcandam's talk page during his block, and was escalated unnecessarily. I think the reason it is inadvisable for you to post on noticeboards is the same reason it is inadvisable for you to comment in general on the politics of this project: you tend to say the wrong thing in most situations and don't have the finesse to deal with the complex politics that seem to rule this project.
Let me be clear, the politics of Wikipedia are at best silly and mostly stupid. Still it takes a deft hand to type without causing offense, and this is a skill you haven't quite developed. I think in general you shouldn't comment on blocked users pages and should probably stay away from arbitration pages as well. Try just sitting back and watching. Sometimes getting involved is fun, but more often the true enjoyment of Wikipedia politics comes from reading and laughing on the sidelines. Focus on editing and just laugh at the rest without commenting. AniMate 08:16, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Pitch drop experiment

Thanks again for making the graph. I added it to a whole bunch of wikis. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:21, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

I noticed. The main problem with using it on wikis other than english-speaking ones is the fact that the text is also in english so people other than those on enwiki and simplewiki would probably be unable to understand the text on the graph... Just a quick one

Your archival wasn't necessary for a lot of reasons. The thread hadn't been posted to for a while, there was no reason to think it would be, it was an a user talk page, where threads don't need to be archived, it wasn't your talk page, so you shouldn't really be making judgements about whether or not the thread should be archived and finally the comment looked like a you were taking a chance to have a little dig. As I say, overall, not really necessary. WormTT(talk) 09:17, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
