Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your Warning to Me

edit

You posted a final warning on my talk page, linking to vandalism. However, WP:VAN states that "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Examples of typical vandalism are adding irrelevant obscenities and crude humor to a page, illegitimately blanking pages, and inserting obvious nonsense into a page." I have done none of these things. I added information from a developing scandal, clearly stating that it was not a scandal. Another user removed it, contacted me with an explanation of why my source was insufficient. I did some further research, found a higher quality source, and readded the information with a qualified source. The information was accepted by another editor and changed, and then removed by another editor. I am currently participating in a discussion on that talk page. I fail to understand my warning. Thank you - very nice of you. That one was a shocker - am really glad the subject took that to OTRS so we could fix it. I'm not sure whether someone was trying to create a quasi-attack-page and fell short or if they just made a WP:WEIGHT mistake, but the final result was really inappropriate. If it goes, it goes. But if it stays, it will stay in my watch-list so I can keep an eye on it to make sure that sort of thing doesn't creep back in. Cheers, Stalwart111 (talk) 22:39, 16 October 2012 (UTC).Reply

FORK

Hello Bearian! I saw at a recent AfD that you linked to WP:FORK page, which is about "Mirrors and forks", while it seems from your !vote that you wanted to link to WP:CONTENTFORK. Its the second time you did this in an AfD discussion so thought to let you know, as it may misguide new editors. Regards --SMS Talk 20:29, 22 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Peking Duck

edit

Your semi protect of Peking Duck looks weird to me. Only one edit in the last month, which I reverted. I really don't care, but mentioning it to you in case the protect is not what you really wanted to do. Darrell_Greenwood (talk) 19:55, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it was intentional, and yes, I am a bit weird. I looked at several edits over the past few months, and they seem to be getting more common, especially as we approach the season when people eat more Peking duck. To be honest, I was surprised that it hadn't been protected in 2011, when there was an earlier spate of IP vandalism and/or unhelpful edits and/or trivia farming. My action also alerts me and other sysops to protect it for longer times in the future. I am not the sort or admin who sits back and waits for more of this; I like to be proactive. See also Wikipedia:Page_protection#Semi-protection. Bearian (talk) 20:02, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
