I see you had to make a "new user name for security" (see here. What was your old username? Are you aware of WP:SOCK? Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 17:31, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|UPDATE: See the blocking administrator's talk page: Chase me says it's ok to unblock......I think I know who this is. Feel free to unblock! Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 18:44, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
This is OUTRAGEOUS. YOU are just calling me a rapist with that sockpuppet label. I was trying to edit Sarah Palin when I saw vandalism.
Background for you: I am at a cafe using wifi and saw vandalism at the Sarah Palin article. I was going to fix the vandalism and warn the user. Since I was on wifi, I thought it was ok to start a new account. I have seen administrators do the same thing. I also admitted it, not kept it secret.
I left a message with the blocking administrator saying the vandal was very bad but recommended 6-9 months of blocking, not indefinite. I am NOT defending that user. I was just trying to encourage the person to reform by having a long sentence, not a life sentence. Now you are obstructing me from editing and PUNISHING me. Please don't do this. How would you feel if a shop, airline, police, dentist, or friend treated you the way I am being treated. Unblock me and stop this autoblock. I'm not sure exactly how it works but I think if you unblock and don't end autoblock, it doesn't work. I am not threatening you but if you refuse to unblock I will be very disappointed at Wikipedia and will mention your harsh customer service to others. Please do not be so dictatorial. See http://money.howstuffworks.com/customer-service.htm You see, I love references and strive to help Wikipedia with references. Bottom line is that I was helping Wikipedia and someone blocked me calling me a sockpuppet!}}

I'm discussing the block with Chase me. Hold on. Mangojuicetalk 18:32, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Chase me ladies e-mailed me and essentially said that if you defend a sockpuppet just after they are blocked, you are them. Look, I was calling for 6-9 months of block, not unblock for them! It happened a minute later because I saw the vandalism and was going to revert it and warn the user when I saw the situation was fixed. This is really ticking me off. I am a good user and being treated so shabby.
Who is this Oprah? I looked up the checkuser and jpgordon himself said Oprah was not Derek. If Oprah was Derek, wouldn't Oprah edit like mad after being cleared. Whatever it is, I am not Oraph or Derek. Please unblock like the blocking admin said it was ok to do so.
"said that if you defend a sockpuppet just after they are blocked, you are them" - No I bloody well didn't! I said that it raises suspicions, and that you should try to see it from my point of view. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 18:58, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
ok, "if you defend a sockpuppet just after they are blocked, you will be indefinitely block as if you are them" is your point of view. This is not right! Please unblock. If I commit vandalism, it takes 2 seconds to block yet it takes over an hour to discuss unblock and I did nothing wrong but was simply trying to edit Sarah Palin constructively. Why should I bother for Wikipedia? You are not helping. You may have the best of intentions, Chase, but you are creating roadblocks
I saw jpgordon's response that I am not automatically guilty, that there is some chance of not guilty. So free me. This is the last straw. You unblock me and we will stay in Wikipedia with this episode forgotten. You keep dragging this out and you are starting a grudge that shouldn't have happen. Is that what administrator school taught you? If so, who hired you; they need to rethink customer service.
Mangojuice proposes unblock in Chase me's page. Let's do it. I've been wasting more than an hour of my time when I should have done something constructive. Fuck, I don't even feel like editing that Sarah Palin reference that I found. Just do it and I will consider it a reasonable attempt to finally deliver good customer service.

NEW LESSON LEARNED: If a vandal is blocked for life, don't be kind and suggest 6-9 months. Instead, increasing the block to indefinite PLUS 43,495 years. OK, now unblock. Both Mangojuice and Chase me seem to support it. Do IT!

Ok. You are unblocked, and should be able to edit now. I'm sorry about this situation but if you want to blame someone, blame the few jerks out there like User:Dereks1x who abuse Wikipedia through multiple accounts. From the perspective of an admin without Checkuser access, your case does look suspicious. Now that we're done with that, Welcome!

I understand and don't blame you. No need to inform me about the new name. An indefinite block really isn't a block-for-life, though. The difference is that when a user is indefinitely blocked, it just means that they cannot be allowed to edit again the block-causing issue has been addressed. In that user's case, a simple agreement not to vandalize probably would have sufficed... Mangojuicetalk 19:47, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
