At that small size you don't see the detail in the lion, and the green background doesn't help - so they're not brilliant - I can't think of a way that even redrawing that would help much at the moment. I have played around with them now. Unfortunately, I think there are only 2 suggestions left if you still don't like them: Find a decent original that shows exactly what they really look like and I'll match that http://www.inkscape.org/download - and edit the paths to be wherever you think they are pretty... Incidentally, Inkscape is ok for basic stuff, and it's free. It's a bit clumsy to use sometimes. Occasionally it will even open and process files that better software won't. I generally use Adobe Design CS5, in particular Illustrator CS5, which is the industry standard, and far more sophisticated, but I pay a monthly subscription to Adobe of $100+ for all my software including that, and Photoshop (Photoshop is good for bitmap formats, generally, Illustrator for vectors, although there is overlap in what they do)  Begoontalk 12:13, 12 August 2010 (UTC) Damn my untrained eye! What are you trying for at General Union?--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 17:16, 15 August 2010 (UTC) Did I ever tell you I was trained in printing way back when it was a proper trade and not something 10 year olds do on a laptop? Probably not. It was my living for 15 years. Fonts are important - especially when the whole logotype is basically 2 letters. Because the original is so fuzzy it's very hard to make out the real edges of the type as it blurs - so, particularly on the G sometimes a straight can be a curve, and vice versa. There are also relationships where the diagonal from the right edge of the G aligns with the slanted left stroke on the W. I had them wrong initially. If you're really bored - look at the G in 1000px in some of the variations I did - you'll maybe see the differences. The last couple of changes were just the outer circle diameter and a couple of pixels of green border, so it doesn't moire and get lost where the white runs out to the edge. I know it was ok - but I'm in idle mode, tweaking, and some things offend me. I'm done now, because there's no more detail in the original to emulate - so it'll have to stay as a best guess. I will guarantee this, though - the font I have hand drawn is wrong. I always admire the printing and color alignment and ink and paper of well-made books and materials. I have originals of Kipling and Tolstoy, and old atlases. We used to take about 3 months to produce a good printed work for a customer, if it was a rush job. Concept, design, typesetting with proper metal type (or photographic paper type to cut and paste if you had the new-fangled gear) - then 5 or 6 rounds of proof reading (I can still mark up a proof with printers marks) (what's proofreading, dad?). Couple of weeks to choose the paper (a whole separate art), machine proofs, then a month to print, and 2 or 3 weeks to bind. Whole world of its own. Unfortunately, now, anything that takes longer than 2 weeks to produce isn't even on the radar. Ah, well. I can at least instil that love of print in the one next generation I have control of. What if the light blue is a part of the logo? What if the design is supposed to appear on white background (rather than some grey infoboxes? Totally disagree that an arbitrary requirement like that makes any sense. Again, let me know when you find it in the MOS, because I'd love to see the wording.
