Speedy deletion nomination of Gabriel bello

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gabriel bello requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Deletion

edit

Hi, thanks for the email. Please read this, and also bear in mind that threatening other edits can lead to a block (I'm not bothered myself, but I wouldn't wish to see such an aggressive tone used against other editors. I deleted your recent article because

  • It was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims include: award winning smooth... accomplished... sought after... You need to either remove the promotional material or provide in-line references to reliable sources to confirm this.
  • You need to provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Looking again, the External Links could be used as references to support at least some of the text.
  • Your choice of username and you intemperate response suggest that you have a conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. You could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created, but that's up to you. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.
  • I would accept that the subject is notable, it's the promotional tone, that's the problem. He would be unique if he's never had a negative review.

I'll shortly repost the deleted text here for you to work on before reposting, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:52, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've put the article text in a sandbox for you to work on before you repost it to user space. Specifically, you need to do the following
  • remove any promotional material or unsourced opinions, such as the examples I gave above
  • Provide in-line references where possible so we can see what each reference is supporting in the text.[1]
  • Write the refs in a more intelligible way. Use [url description] instead of a bare url [2]
  • Look at the two articles you linked. Michael Jackson has references for everything after the lead section. I'm not suggesting you seek to emulate that, but even Stevie Wonder has some proper in-line refs Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:33, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Clarify

edit

OK, I've made this edit] in the sandbox to show you how it's done. The first reference is now in-line between <ref> </ref> tags, so we can see what fact that ref is supporting. I've also written it with a description [url description], as described above, so the reference is now much more informative than a bare url.

The {{reflist}} I've added automatically converts the in-line citations to a numbered list. All you need to do is to fix the other three references in the same way. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:08, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've tidied the refs a bit. I think that you can move the page to article space now (you should see a "move" tab somewhere on the page). Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:46, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
