Welcome!

Hello Ben morphett, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

At Wikipedia, new Users do not automatically receive a welcome; not even a machine-generated welcome. Welcome messages come from other Users. They are personal and genuine. They contain an offer of assistance if such assistance is ever desired.

I suggest to everyone I welcome that they may find some of the following helpful — there’s nothing personal in my suggestion and you may not need any of them:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! Dolphin (t) 11:21, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re: Thanks for your work on Wendy Lewis (writer)

edit

You're welcome. The article needs more detailed citations than just bare URLs, but other than that, it's pretty good! Graham87 00:29, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

But don't add a book that she co-authored to the further reading section when only a few pages of the book actually discuss the subject, like you did at federation of Australia. I'm wondering: do you have any personal association with Wendy Lewis? If so, read up on the conflict of interest guidelines. Graham87 00:48, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Please format the links from "bare url" to "[url title] author publisher date accessdate" or use the Template:Cite web, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:42, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Indeed. I personally think she's notable enough for Wikipedia, but other Wikipedians might disagree with me, so be prepared for that. As for the COI notice, just write a short note on the talk page, stating that you're Wendy's husband. I think you did a good job on the article, especially in writing it neutrally and verifiably. Graham87 11:54, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
More recommendations: The lead should be just a summary, no references there, but - preferably to expanded biography - in the article itself. I personally find it irritating to read a sentence starting with a book title, would prefer something like "Her book ..." or "Her novel ...". - Personal note: my first article was about a friend (deleted within minutes, but revived), and my last one also on someone I know, another Australian, Lyndon Watts, I think it's no problem to know the subject if you keep the text factual, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:31, 16 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Yeah, your girlfriend sounds a bit mad. But you can't judge a whole religion based on one of them. I'm not a Christian Scientist (not religious at all), but I thought that what you did to the Wikipedia article was unfair, so I wanted to correct it. Taxonomy templates

edit

Hi. Thanks for all your work converting taxoboxes. Just one note, when you create a taxonomy template the "refs" parameter is for a link to a website referencing the taxonomy of the taxon, not the authority as you have been doing (tbh most people don't bother with it, but I like to use it). Cheers. YorkshireExpat (talk) 10:37, 2 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
