Non-free rationale for File:Patof.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Patof.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 12:47, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- You write on the image page that the photograph is a work of the US government- is this true? J Milburn (talk) 13:24, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- "Non-free" images, like this one, are usable only if they meet the deliberately strict non-free content criteria. It looks as if this one may do- if it does, I can add a rationale to the page for you and remove the deletion notice. Does this character appear in public at all? J Milburn (talk) 13:52, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- Should be fine, then. I'll add a rationale to the image page. What was the name of the album from which the image was taken? Do you know who the copyright holder is? J Milburn (talk) 14:45, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have added a rationale to the image page, so it is now usable in Patof. Please check the rationale and correct any mistakes I have made. Thanks. J Milburn (talk) 15:08, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- Something like 300 by 300 px should probably be enough. It's not a pressing problem, don't worry about it too much. J Milburn (talk) 15:19, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 1
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited John Williams discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Charles Gerhardt (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

you're welcome
editThanks for noticing my edits in the John Williams discography - and yes you are correct about the many John Williams's - I'm very careful about attributing anything here without a throrough check as one Wikislip could leade to a lifetime of misinformation - but I do find his participation in the 50's West Coast jazz scene both interesting and notable. Hi Bespin - I've deleted the John Williams credit for the Jimmy Witherspoon entry on your advice - I had assumed that it was an early recording from NYC just after his Julliard stint but if others cast doubt then I'm happy to leave it as a credit to one of the less notable John Williams's DISEman (talk) 00:10, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Please stop your disruptive edits of the John Williams discography.
editMy dear Bespin74, You do not "own" the John Williams Discography! Please be aware that repeated uses of the undo function or making the same edit over and over is considered "edit warring" and could result in your being banned. JaneOlds (talk) 11:43, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- @JaneOlds: I think we should report him for clear violations of WP:OWNER. He has been reverting edits that were clearly biased and non-neutral, threatening to "report" me for it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 23:57, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
- Reformulated to talk about his Oscars and Awards, and his certifications for Star Wars albums. It's more objective. Next time be less rude, try to suggest path of ameliorations instead of just removing some parts of an article. Thanks. --Bespin74 (talk) 10:57, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Patof
editHi @Bespin74, you have reverted my revert on the Patof page, so now we are engaged in an edit war. You have been on Wikipedia for nearly as long as I have, and yet you didn't think it was necessary to include an explanation for reverting another editor's work? This is not only rude, but simply not the way things are done on this platform. When one of your edits is reverted, you need to take the issue up on the talk page, not revert back. I encourage you to be civil about this matter, refrain from edit warring further, and discuss any disagreements you may have on the appropriate talk page. Thank you.
