Speedy deletion nomination of Gangsta Nupes

edit

A tag has been placed on Gangsta Nupes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. noq (talk) 21:22, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Your article didn't show anything to indicate Notability, a requirement to have a Wikipedia article, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases. Good general advice about writing an acceptable article at WP:Your first article. As you're connected with the organisation, you should read WP:Conflict of Interest and WP:BESTCOI, too. I have copied this across to your talk page, because it is easiest to keep these conversations in one place. If you reply below here, I will know because I will put this talk page on my watchlist, though I may not be able to reply at once.
I am sorry this reply is so late - I thought I had replied two days ago, but I must have neglected to press "Save page." So here goes again:
No, I haven't time to write your article, and anyway what it needs is not rewriting so much as sources. Read WP:Your first article and, if you like WP:Writing better articles, but the details of layout and so on are not that important. What is important is:
  • WP:Verifiability: "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true." Can you cite reliable sources to confirm what you say about the Gangsta Nupes?
  • WP:Notability, a requirement to have a Wikipedia article, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases. What we're asking is, have other people, independent of the Gangsta Nupes, thought them interesting and important enough to write about?
