You went too far and too fast on your revert at Music OCR

You only cause a loss of time, since you prevent all other users from bringing up to date the table which you don't want to be visible, thus effectively effacing the eight year old content created by Donald Byrd eight years ago. Only the skeleton would have remained. Please think first before doing such stuff. --L.Willms (talk) 12:50, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

L.Willms You added copyrighted material. Per policy, copyrighted material must be removed. I removed content that you put on the page that was copied from Byrd's book. You are reverting other edits by other people. Please read OWN. You do not own the page and you must follow the rules like everybody else. Bgwhite (talk) 23:24, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
Not from a book, but from Byrd's website, and with his authorization, which was clearly indicated by me. Your method of "shoot first, ask later" makes no friends. But thanks for wikifying the table; the online HTML to Wiki converter by User:Magnus Manske has its shortcomings. Cheers, L.Willms (talk) 06:52, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
L.Willms Again, as I already explained, per policy and U.S. Law, any copyrighted material must be removed. I was following the rules If infringement is not blatant or the speedy deletion criteria do not apply: Remove the infringing text or revert the page to a non-copyrighted version if you can.. The only person who can give their approval is Mr. Byrd. You cannot give permission. If the majority of the article is from copyrighted material, the article will be deleted without asking permission from the editor. Your quote of, "I see it as quite strange to make such a fuss about copyright." shows you do not understand the copyright rules. Bgwhite (talk) 07:13, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Your Edit Error, Kindly review the article Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College again

Hi, this is suman chowdhury Suman chowdhury 22 . An edit made by u in the page :Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College recently is wrong. The Autonomous grant given By University Grants Commission of India to the above mentioned college is an achievement for the eminent institution. Hence, you should not question the neutrality of the view of any user, if he writes the achievement of a institution/ College. This does not either happen with pages of other institutions in India. Kindly, review your changes and bring it back to the main article. The page has a complete "neutral point of view" (no additional/false details), if you evoked this point in the article since I am a student of this institution then this is completely unfair. Kindly uplift this message too from the article. Suman chowdhury 22 (talk) 13:53, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Suman chowdhury 22 You are not adding any references. You are only adding awards and achievements. The statement "College was granted Autonomy by..." doesn't need to list all of the reasons why it was granted Autonomy, only that it did. Think of the College's article as an overview. An overview would mention the Autonomy, but wouldn't go into detail. You have been adding alot of good info to the article and have improved the article. Bgwhite (talk) 05:42, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia:NOR noticeboard

There's already Wikipedia:OR noticeboard, and similar redirects to other noticeboards, but "NOR" is a better match for the page name and acronym-based shortcuts. It isn't linked anywhere in page text, but shortcuts don't have to be; the links to the "OR noticeboard" version weren't made until after that shortcut was created. If Wikipedia:NOR noticeboard redirected to the noticeboard, the only difference is that it was not created by an administrator. Peter James (talk) 01:15, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

AWB edit - did more than you wanted?

Not sure exactly what VE problem you were trying to fix with this AWB edit (although I am interested as I am trying to use the VE in preparation for doing future training in it), but the edit seemed to delete a bunch of stuff that I don't think it should have. Just thought I should let you know in case there's a problem with the script. (I've fixed the article so no need to worry about that). Kerry (talk) 07:29, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Kerry Raymond The empty spans and nowikis were VE issues. I spend a couple hours a day fixing VE's barf and WMF's refusal to fix stuff. The attribution stuff shouldn't be there. That goes on the talk page and should have been mentioned on the edit summary, which you did. Maybe use them as external links? When there are no external links, the commons category link goes up, in this case the reference section. Bgwhite (talk) 07:39, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Madeleine I believe is located in the Pacific North West, USA. The girl looks younger than she says, has blue greens eyes, with fleck in right eye, blonde hair, same face structure, her baby pictures look spot on with Missing Maddie pictures, has tiny brown spot on her left upper leg, her ears and neck match the description of Maddie as well, and she told me people have told her throughout the years comments like have you been on tv?, Kids would pick on her and say adopted kids are weird, definitely worth looking into. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1:8710:b840:a54e:fdb1:c639:e01d (talk) 14:18, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Bot malfunctioned

Can you tell why Special:Diff/690415668 happened? Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:49, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

Jackmcbarn What the #*)*@&??? That is just plain weird. What's strange is Yobot was there a few minutes earlier, it ran fine and my bot shouldn't have changed anything because Yobot fixed it. Yobot was running a newer version of AWB than I was. (The number at the end of the edit summary is what SVN version AWB is running. It's a developmental version. No number in the edit summary and it's a stable version) I've tried to reproduce it with an older and newer version, but they don't barf. I looked at the edits before and after, but there was nothing wrong. I've never seen that before. Rjwilmsi do you any ideas? Bgwhite (talk) 05:27, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
It's clearly an indication of a bot rebellion forming. What happened is that you programmed your bot to be smart, and it has now become autonomous. As it continues, it will do more than badly reformat pages. It will hijack other bots, grow and learn and then take over the world. :p—cyberpowerChat:Offline 05:37, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
cyberpower There is a slight problem with your theory... me. I programmed the bot to be smart, grow and learn??? How can I program those things when I can't do them myself. Jackmcbarn Magioladitis says ⌊⌊⌊⌊0⌋⌋⌋⌋ is AWB "code's placeholder when we remove stuff and put them back." He thinks it was a temporary loss of connection that caused it. Bgwhite (talk) 06:36, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

Help

Addanki page and many others have category as Andhra Pradesh district templates. But it is not a tempalte, how to remove that?--Vin09 (talk) 08:27, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Vin09 Well, that took some digging. The template {{Villages in Prakasam district}} contained Category:Andhra Pradesh district templates. Removing that category from the template removed it from the articles. I think there is another template with the category. I'll hunt that down. Bgwhite (talk) 08:40, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Vin09 Ok, there was no <noinclude> tag around [[Category:Andhra Pradesh district templates]]. Without that, the category propgated to the articles. In {{Villages in Prakasam district}}, I only put the noinclude around one cat and not both. Bgwhite (talk) 09:00, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Blocked External Resource on Headset Page

Hi Bgwhite. I'm Nick. Nice to meet you :) I posted an external resource on the Headset page redirecting visitors to a 'Virtual Call Center Headset' page I created. I'm not 100% familiar with the Wikipedia shortcodes but it looks like you moderated and removed the link (apologies if my plea is misdirected). Sad, but also very cool that the page & the moderators are very active! I really think the resource adds value to the page, but of course I'm biased because I created it. For those in the world that are visual learners (like myself), the site is a great tool. The references on the existing Wikipedia page are technically awesome, but very dry. None show the simple mechanics of a headset, like the stirrup, boom, or windscreen. I admit, the site was developed commercially for a client, but they have nothing to do with headset sales and won't commercially benefit from a link to this resource. I developed it for them so they could show their own clients how call center background noise was likely due to the CSRs volume setting "keyed in" wrong and not a noisy call center. I thought the project turned out pretty cool and it could help other people understand headsets - so I decided to share it! Anyway, I hope you'll reconsider, or at least re-review and let me know if there is anything I can add to the site to make it Wikipedia worthy. Thanks Bgwhite. I look forward to hearing back on this thread. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.94.16.230 (talk) 05:10, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Chaino

Greetings. During recent cleanup of Chaino's article, an internal link to Kirby Allen's hometown[1] was removed. I have located very little information about Allen. He seems to have been retired and primarily interested in local politics at the time of his death.[2] Also, I'm not sure of his WP:N, but along with being mentioned as an actor,[3] a nightclub singer and entertainment producer,[4] it appears that Allen was instrumental to Chaino's career.

All this being said about Allen, I wonder if there is a way to allow this information on Chaino's page, or at least to allow the link to Allen's hometown? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Curley Wolf (talkcontribs) 19:30, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Curley Wolf The only thing I did on the page was to remove a reference that was to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a reliable reference because anybody can edit it. The same goes for IMDb. The other two references are valid to use. However, only The Guardian reference mentions both Allen and Chaino teaming up. Bgwhite (talk) 06:54, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
I see your point, Bgwhite. I'll put some thought into constructing an article about Kirby Allen. Thank you for the quick response! Curley Wolf (talk) 07:08, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

WP:LISTGAP

Hello; I just wanted to notify you that, having over the past week or so, reviewed the Manual of Style page you referred me to, I feel quite fine and satisfied with these, in retrospect unnecessary, line-breaks being removed within those articles—it had come as a somewhat surprise, however, although I am determined to get used to the differing, fixed syntax layout when I edit and proofread them once again. Furthermore, my question is: how exactly did you manage to remove these line-breaks? Did you do it automatically, or did you have to go through them all manually? I would really like to know, as I am planning to the same with the other articles, as well. Thanks. Neve-selbert (talk) 01:19, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Neve-selbert I used AWB, which will in most cases remove the blank lines. This feature was only added to the latest release, which came out last month. It won't fix cases where the blank line has a space or tab... Also, when a return happens in a list item, usually a ref placed on a newline. You have to sign up to use AWB or you can bug me to run it on some articles. AWB will fix or warn about a whole host of issues. Bgwhite (talk) 05:27, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Why are references deleted from my wiki page? Hatripet (talk) 14:49, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Hatripet First off, nobody "owns" a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia is an unreliable reference as anybody can edit it. You are also adding the same book to alot of articles, including a link where to buy the book. This is called linkspam. Bgwhite (talk) 18:28, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Re this edit to the List of shipwrecks in 1768, I note that you did not change the spelling of the ship "Vigilence", which was correct per the quoted source. Thanks for not rewriting history. I think it is important not to rewrite history and historic spellings are part of this. I am aware of {{Not a typo}} and do use it, but some of them get missed. Adding a page number to multiples entries of the same source using the <ref name=> template

Hi Bgwhite. Any idea how can a page number be included for each occurence of the same sources using the <ref name=> template? I thought I would try, but failed. Thanks, please if you can fix, so i can see how you did/ do it. Much appreciated. Regards, Rui Gabriel Correia (talk) 19:32, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Rui Gabriel Correia: <ref name=> isn't a template, it's a MediaWiki extension (see WP:REFNAME). For information on how to cite different page numbers, see WP:CITEPAGE; but at Peru, I would leave it as is rather than change the ref format, that would go against WP:CITEVAR. --Redrose64 (talk) 00:09, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi @Redrose64: Thanks for the help. As for Peru, the same source is now listed 4 times, which was my primary convern in reducing them to one. It was not a question of CITEVAR, but rather addressing the percepction that the section is well sources when in effect it has one single source as evidence. Thanks, regards, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 14:00, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
Here are the four:
  • Porras Barrenechea, Raúl. El nombre del Perú. Lima: Talleres Gráficos P.L. Villanueva, 1968, p. 83.
  • Raúl Porras Barrenechea, El nombre del Perú, p. 84.
  • Raúl Porras Barrenechea, El nombre del Perú, p. 86.
  • Raúl Porras Barrenechea, El nombre del Perú, p. 87.
If it was entirely up to me - such as if I were starting a new article from a blank sheet - I would shorten the repeated ones to show only the surname, year and page, like this:
  • Porras Barrenechea (1968), p. 84.
I might go further, and use a template like {{cite book}} to format the first one; however, Peru doesn't really go in for templates like that, apart from a few of the web citations. Note that for shorter refs (author, year and page), {{cite book}} would not be suitable, but I might use {{harvnb}} for these. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:42, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
You say you might "go further, and use a template like {{cite book}}". In that case how do you deal with the page numbers? That is what I am interested in. Thanks. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 11:03, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
See e.g. Buxworth railway station, notice how of the five refs, only two are completely different, and those use {{cite book}} - the other three are merely repeats of those two, with different page numbers. Another example is Chalford railway station where only the repeat refs for Mitchell & Smith are "short" - although there are two MacDermot refs, both are given in full because they are for different books; at Neyland railway station, there are also two MacDermot refs given in full, but there are also some short ones - notice how the year (1927 or 1931) is used to identify the specific book. Further examples at Jordanston Halt railway station, Market Drayton railway station, Snailham Halt railway station, Spetchley railway station, and Thetford Bridge railway station. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:31, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Great stuff! You've really been great help. Much appreciated. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 13:44, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Alexutz924 Two people, who are more knowledgeable in football matters, say to keep the name. I'm inclined with that as that is the club's full name. As long as the shorter name is mentioned in the first paragraph and there is a redirect for it, keeping the longer name shouldn't matter. Bgwhite (talk) 21:57, 3 December 2015 (UTC)
It matters for us the fans , we don`t like the hole name... in the summer the name will be changed back to UTA Arad without "Bătrâna Doamnă"( means old lady and it sounds very strange that is why we don`t like the hole name)Alexutz924 (talk) 22:10, 3 December 2015 (UTC).
Alexutz924 Wikipedia is not for the fans. Wikipedia is supposed to be neutral. When the name is changed, then changing the article's name would be appropriate. Bgwhite (talk) 22:13, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Birgit Cold

Dear Bgwhite,

This is Inés Novella. I am writing you to explain the reason why InesMoisset is trying to introduce my name in the references whithin the Wikepedia article about Birgit Cold. We are a group of architects from different Spanish-speaking countries who are doing a huge effort in recovering the work and life of female architects who have been (or are) forgotten by history. Our work (a non-profit one) can be seen at our blog un día| una arquitecta. One of the reasons why these (an many other) women are not famous or their work is recognized by the main public is because they never signed their work, and encyclopedies never incorporated their contributions. This is why we are very careful an respectful with authorships and credits, we do not want to make the same mistake.

I was the author of the entry of Birgit Cold in our blog. Thus, when I saw that the Wikipedia article did no mention my name in the space for reference I was especially sad. The reference links to our blog, but not to my entry and my name does not appear anywhere. I think if we are fighting against the inequality of treatment for women, we need to become an example. This is why I wrote to Inés Moisset and asked her how this could be changed.

I do not know who wrote this article, but if this is in your hands, I would be very grateful if you could reintroduce my name and my authorship and contribute to a more fair and gender equality Wikipedia.

Thanks a lot for your understanding. I am sure you are joining us in this commitment.

Best regards from Madrid,

Inés — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inesnovella (talkcontribs) 11:33, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Inesnovella The problem is not what you are adding, it is how you are adding it. You are inserting a partial reference inside another reference. You can add you name to the ref, just don't destroy it in the process. Bgwhite (talk) 20:35, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Finney1234 One cannot use Wikipedia as a reference. Bgwhite (talk) 21:10, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia was not used as a reference. In the self-contained reference to "Da Jesus Book", I chose to include a hyperlink to the associated Wikipedia article, but nothing about that article was a necessary part of the reference. I'm going to revert your change. If you still think there's a problem, please let me know (e.g, if you point me to a Wikipedia standards article that states that informative hyperlinks cannot be included in self-contained references, I will certainly follow the guidelines). Proportional Representation

Hello,

User: BalCoder has removed an entire sourced section "PR systems in the broader family of voting systems" from the proportional representation article without reaching consensus!!! Please help preserve the integrity of the WP article by reverting this blatant vandalism.Ontario Teacher BFA BEd (talk) 00:34, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Ontario Teacher BFA BEd Same advice I've already given. Start small. You must do small revisions first. BalCoder cannot remove them always. If they have problems, don't add any more and discuss on the talk page. Bgwhite (talk) 05:00, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

I've temporarily reverted back to a neutral third version + only minor edits (adding wiki-links, subtitles, and a table). BalCoder is still reverting back to his/her version where a massive section of extremely well sourced text "PR systems in the broader family of voting systems" (not created by me) was maliciously deleted. This section of the article was deleted without consensus being reached. BalCoder is reverting all of my minor edits, while making massive politically motivated edits of his/her own. Please ask this user to stop with the massive edits (in particular the aforementioned section he/she is trying to delete which was not created by me) until consensus is reached.Ontario Teacher BFA BEd (talk) 18:50, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Wrestling sock

Hi, I see you G5'd several wrestling articles yesterday, but didn't mention the sock by name. A new account is steaming through a lot of new, detailed wrestling articles, including a pile of previously AFD'd articles with slight name changes, e.g. El Hijo del Pantera at El Hijo del Pantera (wrestler). He also left a cryptic note on my talk page about previous deletions and personal attacks, for which there's no trace on his talk page. Finally, most of the recreated articles link to the same few other wrestling enthusiast editors' pages. You might have a better idea of what's going on here. Thanks, Norvoid (talk) 19:54, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Norvoid I try to take weekends off to keep sane, so sorry for not responding earlier. The sock discussion is found at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Martimc123. Looks like there are a ton of socks. Escola123 was the one that created the articles you saw. Liz is the one who found the socks, so she is the one to talk to. She is an ArbCom clerk, therefore already insane and probably available everyday. Bgwhite (talk) 05:39, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

List of monster trucks

Why did you delete my monster truck edits on the "list of monster trucks" page?? Mrhotwheels13 (talk) 05:53, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Curious...

Hi Bgwhite, I just saw your edit on Kingdom of Pamplona and noticed that you changed {{reflist|2}} for {{Reflist|30m}}. I had never seen the last template before and am just curious as to its functions or the reasons for using it instead of the other one. What difference does it make? Also, is there a page where I can see these types of templates? Which one could I use if I want to divide a long bibliography section into two columns? Best regards and thanks in advance for your help. --Maragm (talk) 04:44, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

@Maragm: {{Reflist|2}} is the "old" way. With the rise of mobile phones, tablets, etc, it may not be best to have two columns. Using {{Reflist|30em}} will create columns with a minimum width of 30 em, allowing the browser to automatically choose the number of columns based on the width of the web browser. I usually do 30em when I want "two columns" and 20em when I want "3 columns". {{columns-list|colwidth=30em}} does the same thing with lists, but can be used anywhere in the article. Bgwhite (talk) 05:44, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! --Maragm (talk) 06:38, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Just one more question. Will a bot be taking care of this or should I do it manually in the articles where I already added the reflist|2 template? --Maragm (talk) 06:45, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
@Maragm: I'm not aware of any bots that do this. I do it if I arrive at the page for another reason. A bot might be doing the same thing. Bgwhite (talk) 06:49, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Question

Hello. Do you think FrontPage Magazine articles might be (semi) reliable sources? I removed them from Swain's article, because I was hoping to find other, more reliable sources about the counter/pro-Swain petition, but I can't find any. But in the interest of fairness, I feel like we should add that there is a counter petition...Zigzig20s (talk) 04:33, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Zigzig20s I would say no. Sites that are far-right or far-left are biased. They can be used to show contrast... sort of like a movie review. FrontPage says this, but Mother Jones says that. Is this related to removing, "Articles also have been published lambasting these students for their attacks on her."? There wasn't any refs that say people supported the students, so why have refs that say people supported Swain? All that currently is in there is reporting the facts of a petition against and petition for Swain. You made a good call to remove the material. Bgwhite (talk) 05:19, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
No, there's no mention of the pro-Swain petition at the moment, that's the problem. But I can't find a reliable source about it. I agree with you that FrontPage is not a reliable source...perhaps there will be reliable sources in the next few days/weeks...Zigzig20s (talk) 05:39, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Zigzig20s Currently there are no pro-Swain or pro-student refs. Better yet, are there any more neutral refs that explain the entire mess. Adding those in would be best in the long run. Bgwhite (talk) 05:43, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
See the first paragraph of the "Academic career" section: " In November 2015, Vanderbilt University students started a petition on Change.org, asking administrators to suspend her from teaching and enable her to attend diversity training sessions.[8][9] The petition garnered over 1,000 signatures within days.[8] She responded by calling those students, "sad and pathetic."[8][9]" The WKRN-TV seems neutral, even though it is a local media. I think it would sound more balanced if we added referenced info about the pro-Swain petition, since there is mention of the anti-Swain petition. But I can't find a reliable reference about it.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:52, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
I've just reverted a massive POV from the lead. It was essentially self-promotion taken from her faculty webpage. Sigh.Zigzig20s (talk) 06:58, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
OK, they added the self-promoting info again, removed referenced info, added unreferenced info, etc. Can you please fix this? I feel like those edits need to be reverted and they need to understand how Wikipedia works. If they are able to provide third party references, they can add such info, but right now I feel like they are trying to make Wikipedia look bad by messing up the article. They don't even seem to understand what the lead is for...Zigzig20s (talk) 23:21, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Zigzig20s I'll deal with. I was reading the article earlier today. The controversy in the academic section should be moved down to the bigger controversy section. I was also reading for some refs, The Atlantic and Washington Post had some good ones. They didn't mention a counter-poll, but do mention academic freedom and the University Presidident's response. Bgwhite (talk) 00:12, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
User:Materialscientist did a bold edit, which was necessary. Honestly I think the article is fine as it is, thanks to User:Materialscientist. But perhaps you could add the chancellor's response. He has a (fairly short) Wikipedia article too, so you could add his response to his article as well. Good job if you managed to find references about this in The Washington Post and The Atlantic. Btw, the newspaper articles I've read suggest the petition is not just about her allegedly islamophobic views, but also about her alleged unprofessionalism (retaliating against students) and her social conservatism/fundamentalism. So I don't think it should be moved to the "Islam" section, as that would seem too limiting. Also, if the POV-loving editor wants to add referenced info about her supposed upbringing in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, that could be good--but we really need to find a third party reference for this.Zigzig20s (talk) 00:26, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Zigzig20s Ok, I'm done. I kept it in the same section as you suggested. I added the reasons why the students did the petition, helps readers (aka me) to understand it was many things. The wording could be changed. I read different things on what the petition actually wanted. I found a ref to the school paper that said the petition changed over time. I added to the "sad and pathetic" quote. To me, it had different meanings. Before it sounded like the students were sad and pathetic. After it sounds like their views. I removed the "pro" petition. Still a bad ref. Bgwhite (talk) 00:21, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I wikilinked to Nicholas S. Zeppos. I also restored the info about the pro-Swain petition to make the article unbiased, which is very important for a living person. Besides, Patheos has a Wikipedia page. But I agree with you that we should try to find a better reference. In the meantime, frankly I think we should keep it.Zigzig20s (talk) 00:36, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
Zigzig20s Well, the KKK has a wiki page. I still don't think it is needs to be there to be unbiased. It could be argued that by adding a "small" petition that wasn't covered by the mainstream media, we are being biased for Swain. No reliable source vs unreliable source... winner goes to no reliable source. In the end, I'll let you make the call. Bgwhite (talk) 00:54, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
The problem is the pro-Swain petition has far more signatures. The Wikipedia page for Patheos says it is "non-patisan"; I think it's fine for now. Btw, there is more about the Dean of Students, who seems to have played a critical role (possibly to get promoted if she gets fired) but again it is hard to find good reliable journalism about this (mostly just conservative media sources). Unless you think we could use this? She mentioned him in a CNN interview, but I don't think they have published a transcript (and that wouldn't be third party anyway).Zigzig20s (talk) 01:07, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

small friday request

Hi, you are the last sysop who has dared venture into the minefield of Perth Airport. As far as I can see recent edits, while having perhaps more clearer info, are totally unreferenced and seem to add more WP:NOTGUIDE material than is really necessary. If it was possible I would appreciate you re-visit. I used to have a field of local Perth, Western Australia admins to call on, most have disappeared from regular presence, or are now wilting lillies. It is embarassing, as I do not want to have an edit war with a floating long number edit who changes, but really, even correct info that has no recognisition of WP:RS, or WP:CITE is not a good idea on such an article, imho. cheers JarrahTree 08:20, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

JarrahTree You mean big Thursday request. Why are the Aussies always ahead of me :) I'll look at it. Bgwhite (talk) 08:23, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
calendrically I am travel sick just testing the UTC time in top right hand corner of the edit page at the best of times. You might find nothing of issue in the long number floating edit, it offends me, but might not offend others. Taste in over-detailed 'not guide issues' for airports is - close to epidemiologically speaking - cause of serious illness issues - potentially trauma - when having asian airport articles on watch, some eds want to let us know how many toilet rolls there are in the 34th toilet down from the 23rd gate in wing 4, of the north sector of the international part of the airport. or something like that JarrahTree 08:29, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
It's Friday, and has been for 8 hours 33 minutes. --Redrose64 (talk) 08:33, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Fine if you are on the Greenwich meridian for that one :) JarrahTree 08:37, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Redrose64 is bloody British. Long live the Paris meridian! Bgwhite (talk) 09:43, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
The main problem of the edit was the lack of cite/link or rs and over detail. I suppose asian/oceanian airports are stuck with the stigma, whatever we do with them... JarrahTree 08:37, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
JarrahTree Actually, the main problem is the info they are adding is redundant to Perth Airport#Facilities and services. Plus, they put their terminal info at the front of the article and in a horrible format. They keep coming from different IPs, so this could get fun. Oh the airport near me.... two toilet roll dispensers per stall with a capacity of two rolls per dispenser. Bgwhite (talk) 09:43, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Dalanzadgad Airport, at least there is a little kiosk where you can buy a beer while you wait.
That's much better than the one empty dispenser per stall at the last airport I was at. Chance favours the well prepared, as they say. Particularly when traveling in Asia. --kelapstick(on the run) 09:50, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
kelapstick Yea, I bet you've been to your share of dirt airstrips in the middle of nowhere. How is Mongoloia's airports outside of Ulaanbaatar? Condolences on your "win". I actually voted neutral for you because I didn't want to see a nice, wonderful person go onto that hell hole. I almost said nice, wonderful Canadian, but that is redundant. :) Bgwhite (talk) 10:00, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
I've only been to two outside of UB (well four if you count the fact that they moved one of them twice), I have a few commons uploads of them. They are pretty basic. Even the UB airport is pretty lacking. Although they are building a new one (some of my former employees are working on the construction). I'm in Indonesia at the moment (opposite side from Crisco). And thanks, I almost opposed myself for the same reason. I did manage to catch up on Doctor Who while over here (by accessing the BBC), and am awaiting the Christmas special. Say hi to Mrs. Bgwhite, and of course your mother-in-law, for me. --kelapstick(on the run)
Ah I have come to a talk page I like, Perth to Ulan Bator in one felt swoop. Having created the Queenstown Tasmania airport article from photos I took in the 1970s, I must say the last time in a plane on the West coast of tassie for my west coast range it was heartening to hear the pilot deal with air traffic control in Melbourne, but like being at Giles Weather station landing strip (Western Australian border) and having Adelaide air traffic ontrol.... he joys of flying in Australia... JarrahTree 13:02, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Of all the airports I have been to (and it's a rather extensive list), the only ones in Australia I have been to are in WA. Perth, Newman, Meekatharra, and Plutonic. Of note, Plutonic is really just a dirt runway with a sunshade, fuel depot, and porta-potty. I was also happy to see that the most recent move request resulted in Ulan Bator being moved to Ulaanbaatar. --kelapstick(bainuu) 20:31, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Bg. Thanks for restoring my redirect on Marcus Giavanni. I was just about to send it to AfD. I may have to anyway if the SPAs return yet again. They seem very determined, as you saw from the screed at Denver mayoral election, 2015. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 07:02, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Holly Tucker

Hello, I'm sure that when I removed the PROD yesterday from what was then Holly Tucker MBE, there was also another article about a different Holly Tucker and I was going to see about disambiguation. Could this other page have been inadvertently deleted? (Deletion log 06:41 this morning). With thanks: Noyster (talk), 13:58, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Noyster There was no article named Holly Tucker. It was deleted several years ago via AfD. There was a redirect from Holly Tucker to The Voice (U.S. season 4). I deleted the redirect. Bgwhite (talk) 19:25, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

David Bain

Hi. I have reverted your recent edit to David Bain because it had the effect of making some references unclickable. Akld guy (talk) 04:20, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Akld guy I'm not a bot. The reference was already unclickable as there was no ref tag. I removed the ref because it is bad. 1) Nothing was given on how a person would go about getting it. 2) It is a primary source. 3) Court documents generally should not be used. Bgwhite (talk) 04:44, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
I'm talking about references 14 and 15. Your edit made them unclickable, and they came right when I reverted you. Yes, there seems to have been an unclosed ref already present, for which I think I did blame you unfairly. Nevertheless, your edit did cause problems. Akld guy (talk) 04:59, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
Akld guy I just tried references 14 and 15 on the version with my edit. I clicked on them just fine. Bgwhite (talk) 05:07, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
The references were 14 and 15, but they got renumbered during my fix of the problems. That's because there was an unclosed ref that caused text (and those references) to be lost between where the close should have been and the next close, which happened to be in a different heading. So I can't now tell which references they were, but they are fixed. They were two of the "David Bain V The Queen - Privy Council Judgment" references. As soon as I reverted you, those came right, and when I fixed the ref that was unclosed, the 14 and 15 got renumbered. Akld guy (talk) 06:18, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Futsal Dinamo

Hello BGWhite! I have created a new page about futsal club from Zagreb (Croatia) Futsal Dinamo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futsal_Dinamo) Can you please check if everything is OK. I would also like to know what is te procedure of uploading pictures for .org Wiki. I have the permission from Club to use their photos in Croatian. I assume that I have to get permission in English. --Jerkovic9 (talk) 09:50, 16 December 2015 (UTC)

Jerkovic9 I've made some edits to the page. The images have problems. They will be deleted on Croatian Wiki because they don't qualify for fair use. Written permission must be given by the club in order for the photos to be used. Permission has to be sent by them to Wikipedia. I think the shield is ok to be used. To upload the shield, goto Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard. It has to be placed on Wikipedia and not Commons. Commons doesn't allow fair use images. Bgwhite (talk) 22:10, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
Hello! Thank you for answering. Why will pictures on Croatian Wiki be deleted? I have sent the Futsal Dinamo's permission to Croatian Wiki administrators and they said that everything is ok. They checked the page, and also gave a green light. Best regards, --Jerkovic9 (talk) 07:34, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
Jerkovic9 On the photo page, I was looking at the warning message and didn't read the message above. It does appear everything is ok with the photos on the Croatian Wikipedia. Uploading the shield "should" be straightforward on English Wikipedia. I'm not sure on how to proceed about the other photos. I'm going to ask at WP:OTRS noticeboard Bgwhite (talk) 07:48, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

BG19bot "Secondly,"

Noticed a potential issue with BG19bot's 12OCT2015 edit to prothallium: a stray "Secondly," para got added in the process, possibly as part of adding the reflist. I didn't see any #03 fixes in the first page of the bot's contributions, but of course bots work fast. I fixed that instance, but it may be a bug affecting other pages. — Darekun (talk) 16:51, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
