Re: Bais Rajput
editI appreciate your compliments. :) Taking a quick look, my only comment for now is that there is quite a bit of bolding. Generally, we only use bolding for the first line of the article (i.e. The "Bais Rajuput are...") but that's really about it though I will say that I have seen it used for quotations as the article does. This is a very helpful article on how to use bolding and italics in Wikipedia articles. Bolding and italics when overused can be a bit of an eyesore. Otherwise, I don't see any major issues. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 08:03, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. :) --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 22:06, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I see you're starting a WikiProject. I wonder if you're aware of Wikipedia:WikiProject Jammu and Kashmir. Also, I think most of the information you put on the new category page should be moved to a project page. --Stepheng3 (talk) 03:42, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- If you're still interested, I could help you set up your WikiProject. My first concern, however, is the category. If you compare with other WikiProject categories (such as Category:WikiProject Pakistan) you'll see that they're usually structured a bit differently. --Stepheng3 (talk) 02:02, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- The process for creating WikiProjects is outlined at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide. The first step would be: what is the intended scope of the project? Then you can write up a proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals by following the instructions there. Let me know how it goes and how I can be of assistance.--Stepheng3 (talk) 18:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Kalhans Rajput
editDo you have any knowledge about Kalhans Rajput that you mentioned in the Bhains Rajput article? Their history, lineage and present status? --59.182.35.228 (talk) 17:37, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Information on Bais
editGot your message. Not much info on the Bais, I'm affraid. There is a book by a guy called Metcalf, but he just talks about the Awadh Bais. Secondly, throughout Punjab, there is a Jat clan called Bains. They have a presence in Gujrat, Jhelum and Gujarkhan, which are close to Mirpur. Maybe they are related to the Bais. Rose in his book on Punjab castes does claim that the Bains Jat of Punjab (Muslim & Sikh) are descended from Bais of Awadh, and calls them Suryavanshi (page 35). I am afraid my knowledge is limited. I have Bains friend who said that Bains are neither Rajput or Jat in Mirpur, they are simply Bains.
Bhawpal / Ethnic Groups Azad Kashmir
editOn another point, do you have any information on the Bhawpal or Bhopal of Rajauri and Kotli. Someone has started an article, but simply used my info from the Muslim Rajput page. I used the book People of India Jammu & Kashmir by K Singh that gives brief description of the tribe under the Chibhali category. It would be useful if you had any first hand knowledge from someone from Kotli about this clan.
Secondly, I know that there are Jat clans in Kotli as well. Do you have info on them, and add on to the Ethnic Groups of Azad Kashmir article. Thanks

Ethnic Groups Azad Kashmir
editThanks for getting back. I was refering to the following article Ethnic Groups of Azad Kashmir. If you have any knowledge on the Kotli Jat clans, I would be obliged if you could add them to the list. Also if you have info on Minhas villages in Azad Kashmir. My sources aren't that clear on the Minhas. I understand, some tribes in AK just call themselves Minhas, while other use other names, but claim origin from the Manhas. For example, a friend tells me he is Nagyal, also says that they are Minhas, but they are also Jat!!! My understanding was that the Minhas are Rajput.
On another note, there is a very good book on tribes of Pakistani Kashmir, Tarrekh Aqwam e-Poonch (the history of the people of Poonch), but I can't get hold of it. It might have something on the Bais Rajputs, but sems to be out of print.
References
editAnd finally the issues of references irritates some of the Wikepedia editors. The problem in Pakistan is, a lot information is oral. The British mapped the whole country in the 19th Century, and the settlement reports are a great. Unfortunately, the District Administration has really declined since, and current DCOs have not produced any up to date info. Maybe this has to be raised by other Pakistan contributors as well, that some Pakistan articles will not have any refrences.

Deletion of tags
editWould you please explain why you deleted tags from Azad Kashmir article. --Shekhartagra (talk) 09:00, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
You Don't tell me to Grow up ans stuff, there has been a lot of discussion on its talk page already and you come up from no where and delete those tags without any discussion and stuff????? and how come you can decide that it was alright when a long discussion is there???
There is no point arguing on that as discussion reflects the existence of tags

Prods
editHi, please don't re-add prods to articles which have had them removed, even if you don't agree witht he reason for their removal, please take the article to WP:AfD. Thanks - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:09, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Pind Bhainso
editHi, I have just started an article on the Tribes and clans of the Pothohar Plateau. I have been told by an acquatance that Pind Bhainso in Kahuta is a Bais Rajput and not Bains Jat village. For the sake of accuracy, would you know whether this is correct, and do you have any info on Bais villages in Gujar Khan and Kahuta.
Thanks
Hi
editThanks for getting back to me. I am trying to build a database on tribal communities in Pakistam amd North India.
My family are Jaat Muslims orignally from Haryana, but now in Sindh. I have created an article Jats of Azad Kashmir. You seem to have a good knowledge of the region, and I would appreciate if you can add anything on the Kotli clans. Most of the info is on the Mirpur clans.
Cheers

New deal for page patrollers
editHi BhainsRajput,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
