Nepal: Women’s representation in the national parliament

edit

Hi! Thanks for your query at the help desk. As pointed out by another editor, your article still has some problems, most of which are minor formatting issues. If you would like, I can correct them for you; or, you could do it yourself, and I can list the various issues for you at the same time here (this way, it would be easier to learn the formatting and you can apply it in the future when you write more content). Just reply here to let me know. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:05, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your valuable input. Highly appreciate if you could help me to correct them, so that I can understand it and follow it in my future articles. I have gone through many literature in Wiki but one info after another creates confusion sometimes. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 11:39, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I'll go through it later today when I get back home. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 12:00, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thank you very much. I also need your help to upload this article in Nepal main page. Once I am done on it, that will increase my confidence for further contributions. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 12:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure, not a problem. Noticing your edit to Parliament of Nepal, where you added a header at the bottom of the page, were you planning to move the entire article to that section, or were you planning to just add some of the info and then link to the new article where it will have more content? I think the latter would be better, as it seems very long for its own section. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 12:24, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi ! In the beginning I thought to post this article under the parliament heading and reserved the heading, but later one I realized that parliament chapter is very week and incomplete. I have no idea what would be its validity to keep under such a incomplete place. I am wondering if I can create a new heading under Nepal page for this material. Being a new user on it, it is being hard for me to decide and act accordingly. In this context, whichever method can give justice to this article, I will follow your advice and decision. Thank you. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 17:14, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah, I see. I don't think it would be appropriate to add the content to the Nepal article, as it isn't directly related to Nepal itself, but rather, the government. I think it would be best to add the content to Parliament of Nepal. It is true that the article is incomplete, but that's what's great about Wikipedia; it's always growing. By adding your content to it, you're helping make the article better. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 19:20, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Agree with you. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 21:28, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I made some of the adjustments to the article. Here's what I did:
  • I put punctuation (periods, commas, etc.) before the references instead of after.
  • I converted headers made by bolding text into subheaders by using three equal signs before and after the title text.
  • I made some other simple spacing fixes among other things.
The article still needs to be wikilinked, along with a few other things done. I'll try to get to these tomorrow. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 00:48, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much. I am learning a lot through this process. Once this article is wikilinked, please give me guidance how to follow it for my future article. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 02:51, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem, I'd be glad to assist you in your future articles. I have one more question for you - do you want to:
  • Add all of the content of the article you made to Parliament of Nepal? If we do this, I believe that the information will need to be reduced, as it is a bit long.
  • Or
  • Add only some of the information to Parliament of Nepal, then link the the main article, which would go into more depth? For an example, see Nepal#Geography You will notice that a brief overview is given, and at the top of the section, you will see a link to the main article.
Either way works, but if you want to have the entire contents of the article on Wikipedia, the second option is probably better, as for the first we would have to reduce its size. Sorry about all of the tedious questions, just want to know what you want. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
It has been really an educative exercise for me. Through this process I am understanding the Wiki's dynamics. My intention is to give the total picture from a single article, so that it would be easier for future readers to gather major information from a single source. In this context, to go through the first option if I have to compromise some texts to down-size it in that case I think second option will meet my mission.

I have one request. Please don't ashamed me with the word sorry. You have no right to say sorry. You are giving your precious time, energy and mind voluntarily to increase my capacity. It is from my part that I am over exploiting your generosity and doing injustice to you. I am sorry for that. Thank you. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 12:57, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay, that's good. Thumperward also helped with the article, so that's nice. I also made a few more changes:
  • I wikilinked important links. These "wikilinks" are basically blue links that lead to another article for further reading
  • I added a small intro. Note that the title of the article was bolded in it. The intro is a bit short and general, so if you can expand it, that would be great.
And thanks, but there really isn't any reason to be sorry yourself :) Don't say that you are doing injustice; I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't like doing it. Even if I wasn't working on this particular article, I'd be working on another one.
In conclusion, I think the article is pretty much done and ready to be moved into the mainspace. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 19:52, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much. I made a minor edits in the body. I tried to edit the intro but failed to access it.
  • In the intro I would like to say == Women's representation in the parliament of Nepal has remarkably increased in the Constituent Assembly, which will have immense role to draft the future constitution of Nepal==.
  • I need help to move this article into the main space. I hope once it is moved to the main space the message this is not a wikipedia article that appears in top of the present page will be automatically off and it will get a status of recognized article.Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 11:55, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Okay, great. I've made the change to the introduction that you requested. I am assuming that you couldn't access it because you were using the edit links located next to the header of each section. If you want to edit the introduction, or the article as a whole, you can click on the "edit" tab at the very top of the page.
Also, I believe that the page is ready to move. Here's how to do it:
  • Click on the tab labelled "move" at the top of the page.
  • You will see two boxes that you need to fill out:
  • Click on "Move page". The page will then be moved.
  • The banner will still be at the top of the page when it is moved. You can just edit it out once the move is completed.
If you need clarification, you can check out Help:Moving_a_page or just ask me. Nice job on the article, it looks very nice, especially for your first. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 19:20, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I got your point. One more clarifications to my knowledge to really move. If I made any mistake to move it then what happens it's future? Will the article remain in user space Or somewhere or lost everything? Once I read the warnings on move page I am little bit hesitant and losing my confidence to move it. I want to be sure that all these efforts are not lost. Please don't laugh at my silly question. I am not well familiar with the technology, so I am asking every details before I make any move. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 22:02, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The only mistake that can really happen when moving a page is that you accidentally move it to the wrong title. If this were to happen, it could simply be fixed by moving it again. You can feel safe when you do it, there is no way that the information will be lost. And don't worry, it's not a silly question at all; the only silly question is one that is never asked (pardon my cliché quote). ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 22:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Just to clarify a bit further: When you move a page, all its contents and its edit history move to the new page. The page from which it was moved from, which in this case will be User:Bhojrajpokharel/Women’s_representation_in_the_Parliament_of_Nepal, will lose its content and history, as it has been moved. It would then turn into a redirect to the page. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 22:19, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank You Thank You Thank You::: I successfully move the article to main space. Many thanks for your positive guidance and continuous support. But I was not able to see it's link with parliament of Nepal page. Anyway, now I feel more comfort for my future work. I wish you all the best. Bhojrajpokharel (talk) 03:37, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
No problem, glad to help :) As for the Parliament of Nepal page, I have linked to the main article and added a small bit of content to the section. You can add a bit more info if you would like. Good luck and nice job creating the article, feel free to reach me on my talk page if you need anything. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 03:42, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
