Dear respectful AngusW🐶🐶F,
Greetings,
In my humble opinion, sources come from a big organization such as FAO is consider a verified and trustful source such as the following link:
https://www.fao.org/family-farming/detail/en/c/387849/
On the other hand, the Arabic Wikipedia version has approved our article: https://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%AC%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%B2%D8%A9_%D8%AE%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%81%D8%A9_%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9_%D9%84%D9%86%D8%AE%D9%8A%D9%84_%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%85%D8%B1_%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%A8%D8%AA%D9%83%D8%A7%D8%B1_%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B2%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%B9%D9%8A
They were requested some changes and edits but not rejected the whole article the same here case.
I request you kindly, to reconsider you decision or at least guide me where the paragraphs to be edited.
Regards,
Bilal Bilalkiaai (talk) 08:09, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Bilalkiaai, it still reads like it was copied from the KIAAI website. There should not be sections such as "Objectives" or Lists of qualifications and prizes. Do not cite official website or sponsors' websites, but use secondary sources such as external newspapers to cover the event. Also if you are part of KIAAI you should self-disclose your conflict of interest. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 08:16, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Mr. AngusW,
  • I'm the content writer at KIAAI, so that means I wrote the website's content, therefore, it's normal to copy the content which I wrote already outside the website, you can contact me in my official email (bilal@kiaai.ae), and will reply to you.
  • We are Award "Organization" that means it's normal to show our prizes
  • Which sponsors you meant? for example; the respectful high reputation FAO "Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations" mentioned us in their website, so how you consider them as sponsors?
  • The newspapers I mentioned in the articles maybe not familiar in your country, but they are big newspapers in the Middle East and you can go to their verified pages and check out how much fans and followers they have such as : Khalee Times https://www.facebook.com/khaleejtimes)
  • the sources organization which I have mentioned, they are international prominent organizations, for instance: https://www.icarda.org/media/news/icardas-date-palm-project-wins-khalifa-award-2021 and https://aarinena.org/news/mou-between-aarinena-khalifa-international-award-for-date-palm-and-agricultural-innovation/ and https://www.biosaline.org/news/2022-03-14-12684
  • Can I ask politely about the double stander between Wikipedia Arabic version and Wikipedia English version? why they edited my article and emitted 36 references to 9 references but at the end they accepted my article not rejected immediately like what you have done, also why they accepted the paragraphs (qualifications and prizes) in Arabic version? Could you please reconsider you rejection again and assist me to modify the article not reject the whole content

@Bilalkiaai: Each language version of Wikipedia operates independently of the others. While there is a high degree of similarity amongst them, each version of Wikipedia sets its own policies and applies them as they deem appropriate. Therefore, acceptance of an article in Arabic Wikipedia does not guarantee acceptance in English Wikipedia. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:58, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Mr. Drm310 for your response
Can you advise me where I should make an amendment in my article so I grantee that will be accepted.
Is there any possibility to assist me with that so you can emit the paragraphs are not match Wikipedia's standers and keep the others, therefore, at least not reject the whole article specially "Khalifa Award" is an authentic international no-profit organization and entitled to be on the Wikipedia as per the Arabic version. Bilalkiaai (talk) 05:22, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Dear respectful Drm310,
Greetings,
1-I have changed my personal Email to formal organization Email.
2- I have removed the unnecessary references as per your request.
3- I have removed the goals of our Award as per your request as well.
I hope to accept the article this time or assist me to make an amendment where is need it Bilalkiaai (talk) 07:38, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Reliable sources

edit

While commercial sites such as medjoolstar.com are not strictly prohibited as sources, Wikipedia prefers sources that more strongly meet WP:RS criteria, such as news and academic sources. Wikipedia and other wikis (such as ar.wikipedia.org) do not qualify as reliable sources. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:15, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Editing at Medjool

edit

Thank you for your interest in this article. However, WP:COMMONNAME applies; "Medjool" is a well-established spelling in English. The article makes clear what the Arabic original was, but you should not fall into any etymological fallacy; we do not have to say "Naranja" for "Orange" because we got the word from Al-Andaluz. You have received advice

edit

You have received advice from experienced Teahouse hosts. Personally, I was saddened that you had been misled by an unpaid editor. Your revised AZ draft may be accepted or declined. If the latter, the reviewer will provide guidance. As for the international award article, that may be more difficult. Wikipedia tends to have a high standard for what it considers significantly notable awards. David notMD (talk) 20:41, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Mr. David, for your response.
The Khalifa International Award is a global award that was established in 2007 by a decree from the late Sheikh Khalifa, President of the UAE.
All of the award's activities are international and covered by global media outlets. Some examples of the award's activities include the Mexico International Date Festival, the Egypt International Date Festival, as well as the Jordanian, Mauritanian, Moroccan, and Sudanese festivals. Additionally, the Pakistan Date Festival will be held this year.
There is also an award that is of lesser significance than ours, yet it has been successfully published on Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh_Zayed_Book_Award.
It is clear that this page does not contain reliable sources as our page does, even though I reduced the number of sources in the second draft of our page.
Why is this page accepted and ours, which is more famous and prestigious, is not?
There is media coverage from "Arab" newspapers. Can I add "reliable sources from international Arab newspapers" to our English page? Are sources from Arab newspapers accepted? Bilalkiaai (talk) 07:23, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, non-English sources are perfectly acceptable, assuming they are otherwise of sufficient standards in terms of reliability and independence.
As for other articles that may be out there (the so-called WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS argument), there are nearly 7 million articles in the English-language Wikipedia. They were not necessarily "accepted"; they may pre-date our review processes, or may have been created by users with sufficient permissions to publish directly without having to go through a review. Some of them are indeed of very poor standard, with all sorts of problems, but this does not mean we should knowingly create more such problems. All new articles have to comply with currently prevailing policies and guidelines. (And if you have found articles that you don't believe meet the requirements, you are very welcome to improve them, or mark them for improvement with appropriate maintenance templates.)

Could you please assist me Bilalkiaai (talk) 11:57, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
As you are writing about your employer, that makes you a paid editor, and you therefore need to formally disclose this on your user page User:Bilalkiaai as required by our terms & conditions. You have sort of done it for the award, but not for Zaid. My advice would be to disclose both, using the appropriate template {{Paid}}. Or if you would like me to do it on your behalf, let me know. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:07, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I authorize you to do this work on my behalf.
I'm Bilal. In accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, I disclose that I have been paid by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation's Award, represented by our Secretary-General H.E. Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, for my contributions to Wikipedia.

Okay, I have added the template to your user page. Please review it to make sure you're happy with it; after all, this is your disclosure, not mine. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:19, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I am very happy, thank you.
Sir, the person we hired and paid to publish the pages has caused me many problems at work. After he successfully published the pages, they were deleted by the administration, I mostly got fired bcoz of him :(
Now, can you help me publish the two pages? What issues am I facing in getting the pages published? If I add references from reliable Arab newspapers, would you allow me to keep the page, considering that I successfully published the pages on the Arabic Wikipedia

I'm very sorry to hear how you've had problems with an unscrupulous paid editor. This is one of the reasons why we advise against using such services – there is no way to guarantee that a published article remains published at the best of times, but in the case of a badly-written article it is almost guaranteed that it won't remain published.
Neither of these subjects have demonstrated notability, which is a core requirement for inclusion in the encyclopaedia. This isn't to say that they aren't notable, only that the sources cited in them have so far not established this.
These drafts must also be written in an entirely neutral and factual manner. You will almost certainly find it very difficult to do so, because you have an inherent desire to make the subjects 'look good' and come across as 'important' etc. – and even if you don't, your superiors probably will. (Speaking of which, please take a look at WP:BOSS, and show it to your boss as well.)
The best advice I can give you is this, which is based on the WP:GOLDENRULE of article creation:
  1. Find a few (3-5) secondary sources that that are reliable and entirely independent of the subject and of each other.
  2. Summarise (in your own words, but without putting any 'spin' on things) what these sources have said.
  3. Cite each source against the information it has provided.
  4. You may then supplement this with additional details from primary sources, such as the subject's own website, but this must be kept to a minimum, and limited to purely factual, non-contentious information.
This gives you the appropriate content, the necessary referencing, and the required proof of notability all at once. Resist the temptation to add embellishments which do not come from the independent sources.
Good luck, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:39, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
