Hello Blackpebblemedia. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Vlastimil Beránek, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Blackpebblemedia. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Blackpebblemedia|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. NJD-DE (talk) 14:38, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

REPLY FROM BLACK PEBBLE MEDIA Apologies for the unorthodox reply - this is our first time. Please can you let us know how we should correctly send a response to the above? Thank you.(In short, the co-owner of Black Pebble Media (United States) went to university with the owner of Crystal Caviar Inc (Czech Republic); they are friends - this is a favor, not a paid gig. Crystal Caviar Inc is the sole representative of the artist. Together, we are trying to update the artist's profile with a verifiable bio. We fully expect the post to be cross-checked & edited by more experienced editors. We are learning as we go along. Thanks for any advice you can offer.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Blackpebblemedia (talkcontribs) 15:17, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Blackpebblemedia, even if you are not paid, you have an external relationship with the artist and thus a conflict of interest which may unduely influence your edits. In a COI situation, editors are encouraged to not edit the article directly, but propose changes on the article talk page.
But we need to adress another issue first: You speak of our first time and We are and your username is that of a company. As per username policy usernames that unambiguously represent the name of a company are not permitted. Also sharing accounts is not permitted. Please request a new username at Special:GlobalRenameRequest. –NJD-DE (talk) 15:37, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

OK, thank you. I was using the royal 'we', but I understand the issue. I will request a new name username now. Secondly, it seems like a lot of changes to propose on the article talk page. Am I allowed to simply propose the whole rewrite as bulk text?

Blackpebblemedia, a bulk text submission would be cumbersome for your fellow editors. If you intend a rewrite, you may want to submit it one section at a time.--Quisqualis (talk) 22:38, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Quisqualia, sincerely appreciated - that was exactly what I had suggested, but having read this article I'm outta here. Peace. https://suegardner.org/2011/02/19/nine-reasons-why-women-dont-edit-wikipedia-in-their-own-words/

Request to change username

edit

Hi. Should I assume this request is under consideration? If so, how long should I wait? Thanks.

I looked at your contributions and see no evidence that you applied for a name change. See below. David notMD (talk) 02:50, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
AfD's typically take 10-12 days, so you have time to get the name change done. David notMD (talk) 02:52, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, David - much appreciated. But I'm outta here. Way too vipers. https://suegardner.org/2011/02/19/nine-reasons-why-women-dont-edit-wikipedia-in-their-own-words/

Hi Blackpebblemedia! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia.
Be our guest at the Teahouse! The Teahouse is a friendly space where new editors can ask questions about contributing to Wikipedia and get help from experienced editors like Cullen328 (talk).

We hope to see you there!

I followed your advice, namely: "The Teahouse is a friendly space where new editors can ask questions about contributing to Wikipedia and get help from experienced editors" and was blocked within hours for asking a simple / polite question. Have you guys ever considered making this site a little more user friendly, without the need for a PhD in the Enigma Code, and with a soupçon of respect for people who actually contribute hard cash as a donation every 12 months. Jeez, you're hard work. Make it less complicated, and there won't be so much argy-bargy, FFS.@Blackpebblemedia:

That was the correct outcome according to our policies. You have use name that represents a company rather than an individual. You also seem to clearly be using Wikipedia for commercial promotion, although that was not the reason you were blocked. Also, we don't care in the least if you donated or not. --- Possibly (talk) 06:38, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads up, Poss. Cool. We won't then. https://suegardner.org/2011/02/19/nine-reasons-why-women-dont-edit-wikipedia-in-their-own-words/
