re: Funk Brothers articles

edit

Wikipedia articles are generally supposed to be made up more of prose than lists. It's next-to-impossible to create a fully accurate (and complete) discography for any of the Funk Brothers, and it's not really a good idea to place "not a complete list" on what will never be a complete list. Therefore, the best solution (something that was done when some of those stubs were first written) is to take a handful of Motown songs -- say three or four -- that prominently feature the contributions of that particular funk brother, and mention them in the text.

I left Melvin "Wah-Wah Watson" Ragin alone for now, because that article needs extensive research and reworking. It lists songs and performers without mentioning how, when, or why Ragin is on those songs. At least i nthe cases of the (other) Funk Brothers, the reader understands they were employees of Motown. --FuriousFreddy 23:44, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Almost an angel.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Almost an angel.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:54, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Using talk pages as forums

edit

Please do not use talk pages such as [[Dinesh D'Souza]] for general discussion of the topic. They are for discussion related to improving the article. They are not to be used as a forum or chat room. See here for more information. Thank you. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:34, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
