Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Wikipedia:Esperanza, are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. Gwernol 04:13, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your screenshot

edit

The Wikipedia logo is a trademarked and copyrighted image and it is not available under the GFDL or GPL licenses: see Wikipedia:Banners and buttons. You can only use this image under the terms of Fair use. Wikipedia does not allow fair use images on user pages. Therefore you cannot use this image on your userpage. It is surprising to me that a "new" user would start their Wikipedia editing by vandalizing a community project then start quoting the GFDL. Are you sure you haven't edited Wikipedia before under another username? Gwernol 10:47, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

From Wikipedia:Banners and buttons linked above: "Copyright: Please note that most of these are not GFDL since they make use of the Wikipedia logo which is not GFDL, but copyrighted to Wikimedia.". From our userpage policy: "Please do not include non-free images (images uploaded to Wikipedia without the permission of the copyright owner, or under licenses that do not permit commercial use) on your user page or on any subpage thereof (this is official policy and the usual wide user page latitude does not apply, see Wikipedia:Fair use criteria for details)." You cannot include copyrighted or fair use images on your userpage. If you place it there again I will block you for disruption. Gwernol 23:22, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, you are wrong about this. To quote the {{wikipedia-screenshot}} tag you used: "This is a screenshot of a copyrighted Wikipedia web page". The only way to include a screenshot of a copyrighted page is under Fair use. Read the userpage policy I quote above: "Please do not include non-free images (images uploaded to Wikipedia without the permission of the copyright owner, or under licenses that do not permit commercial use) on your user page or on any subpage thereof". Please also read Wikipedia's policy on fair use images (also linked above): "Fair use images may be used only in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." Stop trying to be a wikilawyer. You are wrong about this and may not use that image on your userpage. Gwernol 03:53, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
