Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Judicaël Perroy

Thank you for reviewing my submission on Judicael Perroy. I will revise the objectionable wording. For clarification, I did not read Judicael's personal web page before writing about him. I am also dumbfounded that an article about his student, Thomas Viloteau, with only one citation, was accepted; that Perroy has already a presence on the French Wikipedia but not on the English one; and that the final version of my submission which was put together by one of Wikipedia reviewers still was not good enough. That's life I suppose.Zinjanous (talk) 20:26, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Notwithstanding the issues I presented, I've gone ahead and published your article. It still needs work, but that can take place in the main article space. I'm sorry this process is as convoluted and difficult as it is. Blurpeace 12:09, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Talkback

Hello, Blurpeace. You have new messages at Hewhoamareismyself's talk page.

Normally I wouldn't leave things out for style. Like you said it's been a while, I'm just getting back into the swing of things and in the first couple of days especially I just let things go for that, but an hour or so later they were back at the beginning of the line with requests to resolve markup issues. I will certainly stop failing things on wiki markup, but I'm not the only person doing it, and these reviews are also passing the rereview process. hewhoamareismyself 12:16, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited! Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge.

In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. Prior Wikipedia editing is not required; assistance will be available the day of the event. Attendees should bring their own laptops and cords.

Feel free to showcase your work here!

Thank you from Ninjanabe

Thank you for the cookies! They look tasty. It's nice of you to introduce me to Wikipedia in such a warming way. Not just the cookies, but the reading material as well: I'll have to keep busy uploading photos while I'm at bored at work, which I am now. Looking forward to meeting you in person, Blurpeace! Oh, it's no trouble at all. And likewise. :-) Blurpeace 00:20, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:IQTELL)

Hi, Thanks for your comments on the above mentioned page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:IQTELL) Can you please me a bit further.

This is web, iOS and Android app. It is covered and mentioned by leading tech bloggers. There are usually no other references or citations for similar apps.

I noticed other pages, (e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Things_(application)) which have been approved with similar citations; this is just one example.

Thanks for your help, and really looking forward to your help.

It's already a long time and we are still thinking how to improve our article, since you declined it for the second time, I was wondering if you can guide us on how to improve and publish this Article For Submission : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/12bet - Thanks! Wind Gate

Hey, hope you are well! Just thought I would share this article since we talked about this sculpture once. Needs a picture, but at least some info is there! ----Another Believer (Talk) 15:05, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Hey Jason, I'm doing okay. How have you been? The article looks good. I don't think we can get a picture for it though since the sculpture is likely still under copyright. A shame, really. Best, Blurpeace 07:57, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello Blurpeace. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).
