Proposed deletion of The Crimes of Josef Fritzl

edit

The article The Crimes of Josef Fritzl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable book, per WP:NB

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Syrthiss (talk) 18:09, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

With respect, the sources you have given to my mind do not support the notability of the book (tho we both agree Fritzl is notable himself). I have opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/The_Crimes_of_Josef_Fritzl about this. Syrthiss (talk) 18:27, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Fritzl case

edit

Per the Manual of Style, we do not italicize randomly in articles. It's only for song, album, movie, etc., titles. Also, you removed perfectly legitimate categories, so I restored them as well. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:33, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

No I didn't. The categories were moved to the category for the Fritzl case. I didn't italicize "randomly" either; Josef Fritzl and Elisabeth Fritzl are both redirects and may be alternate names of the case. Their names were italicized per Wikipedia:MOS#Italics, Emphasis. I think it's better to use italics in this case than boldface. But if their names aren't in italics in the lead paragraph, they will have to be in boldface. Bob Cooper III (talk) 18:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
There is no reason to emphasize their names. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:51, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, there is. Bob Cooper III (talk) 18:52, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please quote EXACTLY why. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:59, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Italics per WP:MOS#Italics, Emphasis. Alternately MOS:BOLDTITLE: "If the subject of the page has a common abbreviation or more than one name, the abbreviation (in parentheses) and each additional name should be in boldface on its first appearance". Josef Fritzl and Elisabeth Fritzl are likely search terms and are redirects to the article, they don't have their own articles. As such, the article Fritzl case also serves as the biography of Josef Fritzl and Elisabeth Fritzl. The case as such is also known as the Josef Fritzl case and the Elisabeth Fritzl case. Bob Cooper III (talk) 19:06, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
They are individual people. We don't italicize (or boldface) individual band members when they are redirects, and they often don't even have the same last name to correlate them. This applies more to dissimilar terminology, when articles are repeatedly recreated that should be redirects. Your interpretation goes against conventional use, in my opinion. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 20:05, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

CfD nomination of Category:Fritzl case

edit

I have nominated Category:Fritzl case (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 18:37, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This category exists within those other categories, not the other way around. There are only two article within this category, and you've added both of them. It's just not enough. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:00, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
