Law school data
editI really like the law school data you're adding to articles. It might be useful to create a template for the material so it's easier to update and consistently display across all of these articles. But thanks for adding it in the first place! ElKevbo (talk) 20:00, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion! Perhaps you could help me out, but from what I understand, templates are mostly only useful when a bot can auto-populate its fields from machine-readable data. As of now, everything must be pulled and calculated manually from PDFs produced by the ABA. I'm a bit new to the Wikipedia thing, so further guidance would definitely be appreciated! :) Bomberjacket5 (talk) 16:40, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Templates can be used for things that aren't machine readable. They're useful for keeping things standard, even if humans fill in all the data. For example, a template would ensure that the same colors are used for the same thing in every graph even if some other editor is creating the chart. The template documentation would include information about where to find the pdfs you are using and what info goes in which blanks. People would just copy/paste the template frame and then add the percentage data and school name. In any event, I don't know how to make such a template, so you'd probably need to talk to someone else about it. You could try people from Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates.
