Idea for Vote Templates
editHi Booksworm, unfortunately, vote templates are considered a terrible idea on the English Wikipedia. Several people have come up with the very same idea over the past few months, and they have all been shot down. In fact, people are currently discussing such templates at WT:RFA#Voting_Templates, so you may like to take a look. Cheers, Tangotango 04:29, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Translation for the Montreal Basillica image
editThanks Boomworm. I have re-sent the request to the Basillica with your french translation. Hopefully they will now reply. I have not heard anything from them since I sent the english email 10 days ago. I am surprised, however, since most Montrealais (?) can speak both English and French. Userbox
editI see you're online. Perhaps you can help with a userbox im trying to make. Its at the bottom of my userpage, the picture in it isnt showing. Thanks! By the way you have a nice userpage! Chavatshimshon 10:11, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you!! Where in Schweitz are you and how come you have such a good english at your age? One prob with the userbox, i inserted a picture to be in it, instead of the little non-smoking sign that you've put in it. The picture is image:quitsmoking1.JPG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Quitsmoking1.JPG), plz can you put it in? thnx! Chavatshimshon 14:29, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Your signature
editBooksworm, I noticed you use a template (User:Booksworm/sig4) in your signature. Per WP:SIG#Transclusion.2Ftemplate, this is strongly discouraged (in fact, the software specifically tries to stop users from using them). Please cease use of this template immediately, and put the code for your signature in your preferences. It is also recommended, though not required, that you go and substitute ({{subst:User:Booksworm/sig4}}
) all existing copies of your signature template. Cheers, Tangotango 08:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
WikiDefcon
editThanks for cleaning up my convoluted messsage in the WifiDefcon. I had to take a break, I was starting to lose it with the vandals (and screw up some edits).
Can we take the Defcon to Level 2 without any confirmed sockpuppets? This is way too high for Level 3. -- DiegoTehMexican 21:35, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Teensy little question....
editI removed the {{linkimage from Creampie and Autofellatio per WP NOT and that states:
- Wikipedia may contain content that some readers consider objectionable or offensive.
and from the The Content Disclaimer
Wikipedia contains many different images, some of which are considered objectionable or offensive by some readers. For example, some articles contain graphical depictions of violence, or depictions of human anatomy.
Could you please explain your changes?
Booksworm Talk to me! 09:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Certainly. Those two disclaimers serve to put people on notice that we may feature content that some people find objectionable. They do not obligate us to do so. It is up to us to use our best judgement. In fact, WP:not censored specifically says "objectional content is usually removed immediately". In any case, I did not remove any content, I preserved it behind a link. This is a very reasonable compromise. It has been used before and in fact Autofellatio has had this image linkimaged for long periods of time. As we have discussed (and seemingly agreed) on those talk pages numerous times, using the linkimage is a great compromise between people who say we need these images and people who say we would be better off without them. Johntex\talk 12:23, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- For example here is a direct link to a very exhaustive poll on the subject. Johntex\talk 12:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Userbox code
editHi, thanks for being around! Another question. How do I create a shorcut code for the quittingsmoking userbox? Something like {{User:FrummerThanThou/Userboxes/User qs}}. Thanks! FrummerThanThou 04:51, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
la Basilique
editAt the same time, your talk page is rather "messy", so it certainly motivates people to answer on their own talk page rather than yours :-)
Anyway, if that person signed such an agreement, the picture should not be on wikipedia. Even if the author does not mean to make money with it, he can not put it under such a licence which authorize its commercial use. And pictures with restricted uses should not be put on Wikipedia. Hence, I (sadly) recommand that he asks for the deletion of this picture.
Very unfortunate.
Rex 14:17, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
FPC voting
editHi Booksworm, thanks for your recent votes at Featured Picture Candidates - the more input we get the better. However, please try to provide a more detailed rationale for your votes than "That's all I need to say" etc. - the reason for your vote may be obvious to you, but it helps the user who closes the nomination if people have justified their votes with specific reasoning. This is particularly the case where the outcome of a nomination is not obvious (i.e. where there is not a clear consensus), as the closer may need to weigh up people's opinions to determine the result. In some cases, voters not providing a rationale may find their votes discarded. In future, try stating what you think makes the image particularly special, or any specific criticisms (composition, lighting, distractions, image quality etc.) to back up your vote. This can also help the creator/nominator to improve their images. Happy editing, --YFB ¿ 18:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for voting
editThank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 19:35, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

editI thought you might be interested in my proposal for Wikipedia to use logo variations created by members of the wiki community to mark national and international awareness days, Remembrance Days, notable anniversaries, and observance days. Traduction...
editBonjour Booksworm,
Cordialement, David

The translation of Chinese wikipedia's welcome message
editI'm sorry for the delay of reply. You know, Wikipedia is blocked in China. Actually, welcome in Chinese is 欢迎. It is not in this message. This message is a Chinese proverb. Sea contain the water from thousands of rivers. It literally means that everyone should contain opposite points of view. You know, Chinese wikipedians include people from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia and many oversea Chinese. They have very different views on history and politics. I hope this helps. Good luck. Anthony Gao 02:10, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank You!
editThank you for your input at my RFA, which successfully closed at 58/2/0. I will think about the 10 questions and answers I had, and I hope that I will use the tools constructively and for the benefit of Wikipedia. If you ever need any help, don't be afraid to drop me a line. I'm here to help afterall! 8) -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 00:19, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

WelcomeBot
editI am doing research in prep for the welcomebot trail in order to establish some facts on new user trends. Please can you have a look at Category:WelcomeBotResearch. I would appreciate your involvement. Also so as to assist, please can you sub your welcome template with {{welcome123}} which includes that category. Thanks. frummer 22:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Untagged image
editAn image you uploaded, Image:Logo founex.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 22:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
