November 2022

edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.-- Ponyobons mots 23:56, 10 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

This counts as a fourth revert so please assure others that you will not revert again otherwise you will likely end up getting blocked. Mellk (talk) 00:12, 11 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Animation in Ukraine

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Animation in Ukraine indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship into Flying Ship. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 18:08, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this comment. I'm not sure which specific text you're referring to. In this case, the intent was to disambiguate separate but related topics, with an intent to improve the encyclopedic resource provided. The initial article edit comment indicates disambiguation from the related film article. I would not consider the mere act of listing a book or media item in a list of materials that reference an idea to be sufficiently creative to be copyrightable, especially when expanded, reworded, and augmented with additional reference information. This would seem to be a substantial change referencing basic public knowledge information. Additionally, the pages are both linked to each other and mutually reference each other, which itself is attribution. The edit chain in both articles is clear and preserved. The intent was to ensure that the information presented was encyclopedic, complete, and contextualized, and all clearly referenced and cited. I would not think copying if any qualifies as extensive, though will keep this in mind in the future to improve clarity and transparency. Thank you again for this feedback. Russian Fairy Tales

Please do not add a footnote with link to the text of the book itself. We need references to information about the book.- Altenmann >talk 00:17, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Altenmann, I think you misunderstand - This is from Haney's introduction, an overall summary by Haney of Afanes'ev's work written by the professor of Slavic languages and literature at the University of Washington as an introduction to his work, published by the University Press of Mississippi, even if contained in a book where these tales are translated for English-speaking readers, is absolutely a reference. Where is a Wikipedia policy which states that academic work by professors at accredited universities are not credible sources for references on subjects for which they teach? BowTieTuba (talk) 00:34, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I indeed was not paying proper attention. Reverted myself. Reference to intro is OK, but simply links to translations belong to the section "Translations". - Altenmann >talk 00:39, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
