Edit war warning

edit

Your recent editing history at Carabiner shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Mandatory paid editing disclosure

edit

Hello Brandon Murphy. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Brandon Murphy. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Brandon Murphy|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. Jytdog (talk) 00:53, 31 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Greetings Jytdog,
Hope you are doing well.
Last week I added some photos to the carabiner page that showcase the shapes of the carabiners and when I checked back the following week they were not there on the page. There was no notes/comments left for me to why, so naturally, I guessed that I must not have hit the update button and attempted once more. Please know, that yes I am a Photographer in the Spokane area and one of my clients is Omega Pacific, This gives me access to the highest quality photos that would represent "said" shape of this specific product. Hence, why I posted them in the shapes section of the carabiners page.
I ask that you please reconsider your choice to remove the last edits on the carabiner shapes.
Please let me know.
I do ask that a message is sent on the first round of edits explaining why content is deemed "not worthy" of being up because of how this situation was approached/handled my perception of this is one of entrapment and I wish to advocate that we somehow find a common ground here instead of punishing me by "blocking from editing" for trying to better this website. I strongly feel that I can add value to Wikipedia thru photography and my multiple client connections.
Thank you for your time and have a great day!

It is advertising and no you cannot abuse Wikipedia to advertise for your client. See WP:PROMO. What you have done is like stapling posters to trees in a national forest. Doing that doesn't "better" the forest; it pollutes it. You are that guy.
Also please read the WP:PAID policy and follow it. You have violated it with every edit you have made so far.
If you reply please do so here, just below this. Jytdog (talk) 15:22, 31 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Greetings Jytdog,

I can see how it could be advertising because the part is fully listed with the companys name, frame shape, gate style and part number. Once I am done here I will read over the WP:Paid policy to further educate myself. Quick Question, If I was to rename the carabiners images would that be any better?

I do not understand or see how I am damaging the wikipidia "forrest". I am a offended by your comment about me stapling posters on trees and would like you to explain a bit further how "I am that guy".

Thank you for your time and have a great day!

Brandon
