Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Britnbecca. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Lawrence L. Langer, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! Please read and respond re COI

Hi Britnbecca, I work on conflict of interest issues in Wikipedia and was brought by the posting at the noticeboard mentioned above,

Based on this and your editing, you clearly have some connection with the subject of our Lawrence L. Langer article.

As in academia, where Langer worked, in Wikipedia it is essential that we manage conflicts of interest. I am sure Langer himself would agree with this. You have already been provided with the formal COI notice above but you are ignoring it, so let me try to work with you some more.

As in academia, COI is managed here two ways First by disclosure, and then by a form of peer review. First things first. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by out WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some relationship with Langer? You can answer how ever you wish, but whatever the relationship is with him, please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works, and to how the peer review part of it works.
