File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Wicked-1- (2).jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILY (TALK) 17:42, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:File:Wicked-1- (2).jpg

edit

Hi Broadwayfan15. It looks like File:Wicked-1- (2).jpg is a non-free image, meaning, the copyright is owned by someone else. Copyright status of images on Wikipedia can be denoted by templates (a full list of non-free tags can be found here). Since this image of the Broadway play, Wicked, comes from a souvenir picture book - you may want to use this tag {{Non-free promotional}} like so {{Non-free promotional|image_has_rationale=yes}}. All non-free images must also have appropriate fair use rationale per the Wikipedia non-free criteria #10. An example whose format you may wish to follow for this next step may be found here. Copyrights/Fair use rationale can get quite complicated at some points so if you have any questions or are in need of assistance, feel free to let me know and I will see what I can do.
