Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:John Bommarito

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:John Bommarito, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Broph44, I made these changes. More than half your draft is writing about his company rather than him, and seems to be promotional for that reason. There isn't even any indication of how or when he got to run the company, it's only mentioned in the promo bit.

Your claim that he "needs" an article suggests that you have a conflict of interest and you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for him or an affiliated organisation, or otherwise are acting on his behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by him or an affiliated organisation, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Broph44. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Broph44|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:37, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

The changes you made look great. Let me know if this is able to publish now. Broph44 (talk) 15:42, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
First, you haven't declared your conflict of interest. Second, if you read what I said, more of the article is publicising his company than telling us about the subject of the article, i.e. him. If you publish it as it is, someone will tag it for deletion. You obviously need to mention his company, but it shouldn't dominate the page Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:49, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sure, thank you. I am not paid by John Bommarito. I work for a separate agency that helps him manage his social presence. I understand this page cannot be promotional and am happy to add more about him personally. I asked earlier that if the edits you made were good to go but you still feel it talks to much about his auto group correct? It's pretty short so I'm wondering if that's the case. If you say I can proceed I will edit the article again and fix. Thank you. Broph44 (talk) 18:56, 20 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Since you are working on his behalf, even if indirectly, you must make the paid editor declaration as prescribed above. You are right about too much emphasis about what his company does, but as I said, there are obvious gaps in his biography. He seems to go straight from education to head of a company with nothing between Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:24, 21 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Okay, thank you for the feedback. I have declared it in my bio, not sure if it's the right format. After I edit the page further will I be able to move to publish? I don't see that option anymore.Broph44 (talk) 15:24, 21 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Are you able to see why I can't move to publishing this as is? Thanks Jimofbleak. I also don't see where I can contest the deletion. Broph44 (talk) 15:20, 25 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

why cant i contest john bommarito page? i dont see where I can move to republish page. also how can i start a new page. thank you. Broph44 (talk) 15:21, 25 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've added a submit button to the draft.
Before you submit, you should improve the content by a) ensuring that every biographical fact in the draft is supported by a reference to a reliable source (the guidelines for biographies of living persons require in-line citations) and b) as this is a biography of a person rather than an article about a company, ensure that the content is about the person. In its current form, the draft would be rejected, so you still have work to do.
As for protesting the deletion of an earlier version of this page, I suggest that you stick to creating this new draft within the Wikipedia policies and guidelines. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 18:23, 25 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Great I will update it before submitting thanks so much Broph44 (talk) 16:52, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi jmcgnh are you able to take a look at the draft improvements made and give some feedback again? Thank you. Broph44 (talk) 20:14, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
