Hi! I added a couple of paragraphs about my cousin. New to this. How can I add sources? Auntyree94 (talk) 17:23, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- I take it you're referring to this edit. Wikipedia requires that the content of all articles should be backed up by reliable, published sources. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources. This is to enable readers to verify statements in the article. You need to provide such sources to support additions you want to make to the article. Have a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources to see how to add sources. For more general help on editing articles, see Help:Contents. —Bruce1ee 17:50, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

On Obeya
Hi Bruce1ee,
The update for the Obeya page consists of a definition, which is provided in a published book (Dutch) on Obeya plus a list of 11 principles, from the not for profit Obeya Association, which is a group of over 150 Obeya practitioners from 40 countries. I wish you would reconsider your assumption that the update is for promotional purposes. The current page does not have an official definition nor does it have principles that can serve as a guidance for practitioners. That is why the proposed update adds value to readers. Greetings from The Netherlands, Jeroen Apparens (talk) 11:01, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Jeroen, the content you added to Obeya here has not been written objectively. It promotes the concept of Obeya and the Obeya Association rather than describes it from a neutral perspective. Have a look at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Also no reliable, independent sources have been cited. All Wikipedia articles should be based on such sources. —Bruce1ee 11:40, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
External link removal from Early Germanic calendars
Hello Bruce 1ee,
I received your message about removing an external link considered inappropriate for an encyclopedia. I believe it falls under point 3 of WP:ELYES for the reason of "amount of detail." The link contains an open-access phylogenetic reconstruction of Anglo-Saxon month names, including a detailed list of the earliest surviving manuscripts in question. It expands the reader's understanding of the "main source for Old English month names... written in 725", as it is not clear that the original work does not survive, nor that existing copies lack consensus.
I agree that is also falls under point 11 of WP:ELNO as a blog, and that there may be a conflict of interest WP:ADV since it is my blog. However, there are no advertisements on the domain, and there is also an externally archived version of the link available. Lastly, a similar personal website containing detailed information on the topic is already externally linked in note number 4, "De mensibus Anglorum". I appreciate your second review on the topic.
The removed edit consisted of the following sentence and external link in "ref" format:
Although the original manuscript was lost, early copies from 780-836 have been used to reconstruct their initial spelling. Phylogenetic reconstruction of Anglo-Saxon month names in De temporum ratione
Thank you, H — Preceding unsigned comment added by HuckRightOff (talk • contribs) 12:21, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- The content of all Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable sources. You added content to Early Germanic calendars, but used your blog as a source. This is classified as "user-generated content", which is not regarded as a reliable source. Have a look at WP:USERGENERATED for more information. If you have a reliable source to support this content, then feel free to add it again. —Bruce1ee 12:53, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Bruce1ee. I agree that my edit violates the user-generated content criteria, which I also agree is a good criteria for narrowing down the scope of acceptable reference material. I find it interesting how the personal website of Nikolaus A. Bär is an acceptable source for citation note 4. Is it because he was digitally transcribing a manuscript rather than analyzing it? If I were to do the same for another work, such as the Law of Æthelberht in Textus Roffensis, which that be sufficient for inclusion as a reference or external link on one of those pages? My goal is to contribute my time and effort to the study of history without losing anonymity. HuckRightOff (talk) 14:02, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- For example, I've created a summary table of digital facsimiles and transcriptions of Anglo-Saxon month names in the oldest 13 manuscripts of De temporum ratione, which I think would be a useful resource in the external links section of Early Germanic calendars. HuckRightOff (talk) 14:19, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- To be honest, I can't comment on the reliability of Nikolaus A. Bär's website. Remember that some user-generated content is acceptable – WP:USERGENERATED says "Content from websites whose content is largely user-generated is generally unacceptable." It seems you could be making some useful contributions to Wikipedia, and I'd say go for it. Use your own judgement regarding the reliability of sources, but also have a look at Wikipedia:Reliable sources. —Bruce1ee 17:33, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

@Philip Czaplowski: appears to have a problem with this article. An attempt to start an AfD is here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Hannan (composer). I'm not sure what needs to be done to make this discussion accessible to all interested editors. In particular, the page's creator, Voceditenore, who is currently "away from the desk" and may not be aware of this AfD.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 16:00, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up. Philip hasn't followed the correct procedure for nominating this article; he needs to read WP:AFDHOWTO. Philip, as the nominator, should also notify those editors that have contributed substantially to the article, in particular, the creator. Step III of WP:AFDHOWTO explains how to do it. But, more than likely, anyone interested in the article will have it on their watchlist. —Bruce1ee 17:03, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping, shaidar cuebiyar. When I'm away, I don't normally check my watchlist. I've commented at the AfD and will also notify WikiProject Classical music too. Voceditenore (talk) 18:21, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

The Bernina railway is a single-track, metre-gauge railway line forming part of the Rhaetian Railway. It links the spa resort of St. Moritz, in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, with the town of Tirano, in the Province of Sondrio, Italy. This photograph shows a train near the top of the Bernina Pass at an elevation of more than 2,100 metres (6,900 ft). The two ABe 4/4 multiple units have excess power with only two passenger cars, so some freight is carried along at the rear of the train. Photograph credit: David Gubler

Revision as of 15:37, 29 November 2020 (edit) (undo) (thank) Bruce1ee (talk | contribs) to WP:RSX Talk:Battle of Yongyu Error and Reference Orphans information request
I deleted User :Jim Hokins response to my information request because his e-mail message contained a dangerous download link that my antivirus software quarantined. Additionally, his e-mail address @rambler.ru is bogus. A message sent by me was returned as undeliverable. Please do not revert again. Charles Shaulis (talk) 23:01, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Charles Shaulis: If you had explained the reason for removing Jim Hokins's reply in the edit summary, I wouldn't have reverted your edit. That's what edit summaries are for. And Jim has no idea why his reply was rejected. —Bruce1ee 05:29, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
- Jim Hokins' reply was not rejected. My e-mail reply to Jim Hokins informing him of the download issue was rejected by my mail server as undeliverable; hence, the deletion. BTW, the executable contained in his download link took a bit of work on my part to delete from my hard drive. Charles Shaulis (talk) 07:15, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Charles Shaulis: Then you should have said that in the edit summary, not just deleted it without explanation. It's good practice to use edit summaries. —Bruce1ee 09:00, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
Wikipedia Paragraph 3 Sentence 1 <-removed by you without understanding that it applies directly to the text of a main point in that entry
I am discussing a problem I see with the main point of THE WIKIPEDIA PAGE I am not discussing wikipedia itself. Your aggressive edit without even reading what I said is disconcerting!

- @Zugzwangerone: What "aggressive edit" are you referring to? —Bruce1ee 14:54, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- You don't even know.. Its unbelievable. Do you even read the talk page? You figure it out.Zugzwangerone (talk) 14:56, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Zugzwangerone: My last edit on Talk:Wikipedia was on 30 November 2020 here. I haven't touched that page since then. Check the page's history. —Bruce1ee 15:01, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Fleet Management
I made a minor edit that defined the term fleet management. I am not spamming my company, rather we are launching a new free information platform that does not involve sales of any kind. Only providing information. I did not want to alter the body of the article. Just added to it to include a definition of the term and included a link to the page that I sourced the definition. What is a format are you wanting this type of contribution in?ManagerPlus (talk) 21:28, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
- You are promoting your company and Wikipedia doesn't allow promotional material on its pages (see Wikipedia:External links and Wikipedia:Spam). —Bruce1ee 22:01, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_order#cite_note-1 On this example, there is another company in a similar capacity to the definitions I added to the Fleet Management article. I want to contribute meaningful information. How does their definition and citation differ from mine?ManagerPlus (talk) 22:22, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
Re:
Is there a rule that forbids anyone to mention Sci-Hub and LibGen?--219.79.88.231 (talk) 11:21, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
- No there is not. Wikipedia has articles on them: Sci-Hub and LibGen. But their legal standing as a source of journal articles and books is questioned, and for that reason the Wikimedia Foundation and the Wikipedia community does not endorse them. —Bruce1ee 13:29, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

- I did not revert your edit. Have a look more closely at Comparison of survey software's revision history. —Bruce1ee 21:16, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Woops - Sorry - I realized it was reverted to _your_ version ;) My bad. Apologies.

WP:RA Companies
Hello friend. We've worked together over at WP:RA a little bit. I hope you're doing well this holiday season. I wanted to throw out an idea on your talk page before going more public with it, in case it's controversial. What do you think of possibly shutting down WP:RA's companies sub-section, and replacing it with a message that they should use AFC?
Seems like WP:RA/companies just a massive list of old, non-notable companies. Keeping it open 1) gives false hope to people applying there, who should probably be using the AFC process to have the best chances of getting their article included, and 2) takes up editor time by having to maintain the lists.
Additionally, I picked a recent applicant from the list that looked like it passed WP:3REFS, made an article for it (Lidya (company)), and now it's about to get deleted. Discouraging. Finally, how many editors actually create articles from the list? One or two a year maybe?
Anyway, just an idea. Please let me know your thoughts when you get a chance. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:43, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Novem Linguae: You raise some valid points, but I think you need to keep in mind what the motivation for creating WP:RA/Companies was in the first place. Was it to reduce the AFC backlog? But you're actually asking the wrong person. My involvement with WP:RA has only been peripheral. I'd suggest bringing this up on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Requested articles talk page. —Bruce1ee 07:24, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

For providing newspaper references on Izaac Hindom. The newspapers really gave me much more insight into the subject. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael (marhata) 12:21, 26 December 2020 (UTC) |
- Thanks Jeromi Mikhael, I appreciate it. —Bruce1ee 12:28, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
Why my addings removed?
If you will mention about reference, you can check with wikipedia (it is also added there).Additionally,I see there are several "births" which not mentioned any reference if the reason is about reference Alex WKL (talk) 08:24, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- All new days-of-the-year entries must have an inline citation; see WP:DOYCITE. This only applies to new entries. That is why there are many existing entries without references, but they will be added in time. —Bruce1ee 09:04, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
