Hello, Btwoshay, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Duplicating articles

edit

Hi - I saw that you moved your sandbox live, where it was nominated for deletion by PRehse as duplicating the existing article on Lancia ECV. I think that you may have meant to merge the two pages together - you can do that following the directions here. With page titles, it looks like the existing article left out the 1 - possibly because the first prototype was referred to as simply ECV rather than ECV 1. If you have evidence that this is not the case we can petition to have the article renamed.

However I do have a word of caution - the writing needs to be neutral in tone and not contain anything that could be seen as a personal opinion, original research, or something that would be subjective to the reader. For example, this snippet is written as non-neutral:

Lancia Has always been one of the most captivating and prominent names in rally. With vehicles like the Fulvia, stratos, 037, and integrale HF it's hard not to be noticed.

These statements are favorable towards Lancia and can even be seen as promotional in tone. As such, this comes across as Wikipedia taking a stance that Lancia is better than other manufacturers out there. Whether or not they are isn't really the point - the point is that Wikipedia should not come across as endorsing any one thing over another. Anything that could be seen as a point of view statement should either be removed or attributed to the person making the specific claim.

It also looks like the section "Lancia in Rally" is about Lancia in rallying in general, so this will need to be edited to be specifically about the Lancia ECV and its use in any rallies. There's already an article on Lancia in rallying, so any general additions about Lancia in rallying should be in the topic specific article rather than the ECV article, which should be about ECV only.

I hope this helps - I've moved your sandbox back to your userspace. Please do not move it live - instead, merge the content after reviewing it for the material I've posted above. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:23, 8 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, Lancia ECV1

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Lancia ECV1. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Lancia ECV. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Lancia ECV. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. PRehse (talk) 12:00, 20 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • This will likely be deleted - as mentioned above, this was nominated for deletion because it was seen as redundant to the existing article on the Lancia ECV and I'd also noted that it contained material that was also very general and was more about Lancia in rallying, which also already has an article. There were also issues with tone. I had moved this back to your userspace previously so you could work on re-writing content to be more neutral and seeing what could be merged into the existing articles, however you moved it back yesterday without any changes. Please be aware that the deletion template on the article is valid and the only way to save your work right now is to work on making your content neutral and merging non-duplicate information into the existing articles. (ie, if there's something in your draft information-wise that isn't in the existing articles, that would be a valid thing to merge into the existing articles.)
