To answer your question on Bahamut Lagoon, we had spoiler tags until around last April, when they drew concern for being unsuitable for an encyclopedia and stuff like that. In what was not one of the finest moments of the community, a few users proclaimed that two, three days' worth of inconclusive discussion with a numerical edge against spoilers was enough for a mandate against them, and proceeded to delete all 45 thousand of them with mechanical assistance. Other editors then used the fact that this completely unopposable move had not gained enough support as proof of the fact that the silent majority was on their side.

An utterly bitter discussion continued until about September, when the template was listed for deletion as unused and unnecessary and removed. Now we do not have spoiler tags. I'd talk about how this sordid tale demonstrates our need to grow as a community and develop a greater awareness of practices and their effects, and more advanced editing philosophies, but I wouldn't be able to stop. --Kizor 09:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
