Reminder...

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 22:10, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey there! I understand your concern. In all honesty, when I am subst-ing, I rarely pay attention to the timestamps of users who don't (I call it "autopilot").
You were correct -- you have been subst-ing for months. To answer your question, you did not subst in at least three places (though, I do admit, in February): User talk:66.30.225.133, User talk:67.11.158.50, and User talk:24.20.87.113. My reminder is just for those users who never knew about subst-ing, and are just now learning this important tag in Wikipedia. Sorry for any misunderstanding. If you have any further questions, please see my talk page. Happy editing! — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 01:13, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

GVA Electoral Area A map

Re:Image:Greater_Vancouver_A.2C_British_Columbia_Location.png: I included that island in the map for Port Coquitlam instead of Greater Vancouver Electoral Area A. I have a map that labels it as part of Port Coquitlam. Are you sure it belongs with Electoral Area A? If yes, let me know and I'll fix it) Qyd(talk) 01:39, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

The map on Port Coquitlam city website seems to have the island within city limits (even if there's no streets on it). Qyd(talk) 00:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
The GVRD website page on Electoral Area A ( map) has no mention of Douglas Island. "On September 29, 1991, Douglas Island was incorporated into the City of Port Coquitlam. The Island is identified as having significant environmental value with some form of vegetation and animal life unique to this location. It is uncertain whether or not any development of the Island will ever be permitted by either the local government or the Province."[1] --Usgnus 21:00, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Crap, you got me.

Um... stalk? Why, I don't know the meaning of that word. :P Nah, just watching these poor HandsomelyShockings try to attract attention. For God's sake, if you want people to notice you, invent a cure for cancer... don't mess up other's work. Hopefully he gets bored soon. Mopper Speak! 05:11, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Vancouver maps

Great work on the new maps! Those look a lot more precise and clean than the one that's been generally used on the neighbourhood articles. Now I just need to get to writing those last few pages... Tony Fox 17:58, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

New to wikipedia

Hello, please excuse me, since I'm new to Wikipedia. I don't know who wrote the article about Love, but when I searched for it, I saw a weird phrase before the "Love" description and it said something like this,

"lOVE HURTS! I JUST LOST MY WIFE IN A CAR ACCIDENT SUCKA..."

It is not the complete phrase, but I believe that it's not what the author intended to write in his love article. I just edited it out, because it looked out of place and wrong.

I apologize for any confusion it has caused.

Thanks.

P.s. I accidentally placed this note in Archive 5. I immediately realized this error and removed it to place in this page. My apologies again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.81.171.56 (talkcontribs)

Thanks

Not that funny, but I'll take it. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 18:05, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Thanks for your comments on my RfA. I'm sorry not to have had your support, but the application was successful and I hope to repay the community's faith in me. Cheers, Deizio talk 23:49, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I have to say that your response to my neutral comment is inconsistent with your reason to oppose my RfA and listing on the standards page, hence I wont be able to move to support. I think if you're going to go to the trouble of listing your editcount criteria to support RfAs on a project page, and cite them as the determining factor to oppose other RfAs (and we're talking in the last few days here), you should at least be willing to stick by them, not just fudge the issue and suddenly play it down when it's brought up on your own RfA. If that's what you believe then stand up and say "Yes, I think an editcount of around 4,500 is an indicator of experience in an admin candidate". However, I hope you get through and continue your dedicated work. Btw, Vancouver is a great city, and as a fellow Wiki-city Project founder and participant (Porto in my case) I know you're doing good work. Nice one, Deizio talk 23:13, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

your sig

try the following

<font color=red> sig formatting </font>

it should make things a lot simpler just to use a name. And you can use it globally on the whole signature. You dont really need a seperate one for each if you keep them all the same color, the color name is generally better than the code for concision, and you can omit the size. since its generally frowned upon to make them bigger than default. To make them smaller you can always use the <small> tag --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 06:15, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

eh, it happens. ouch, you may be right. Are you sure they don't just omit some tags though? Have you actually tried the <font></font> tags as opposed to the span tag?--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 06:21, 18 May 2006 (UTC) (also replied on my talk page)
I figured it out, you have to need quotes around the color name for it to be accepted, the error message appears to actually be regarding the syntax. Also, you have to nest the font color in the display half of the link ([[link|<tag>display name</tag>]]). Take a look at my sig for it.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 06:27, 18 May 2006 (UTC) (also on my talk)

Maps of vancouver

Hey I like the new maps, great job; except one thing. Why pink? It's not the most attractive of colours for a municipal map. Themindset 18:13, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

The maps are good. I think the pink is fine. What I don't like is the bright green Stanley Park arbitrarily highlighted in each of them. Without captioning each picture "Kitsilano in red, Stanley Park in green", an unfamiliar reader won't know which is which. Can I suggest the park be turned pink, like the rest of the background? --Ds13 20:55, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
I agree about the green. Now that I think about it, it's probably not so good for people with red-green color blindness either. Perhaps a lighter shade of pink would address Themindset's concerns. --Usgnus 21:07, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Alright, fair enough. I also had that in mind too when I made it. I'll make the changes when I get the chance (as I took a LOT of Vancouver photos today and can't wait to get them posted first). Thanks for voicing your concerns, it's really appreciated. You guys gave me some VERY good feedback here. -→Buchanan-Hermit/!? 01:46, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Just replaced Stanley Park with the "lighter shade" Usgnus suggested, which turned out to be white. I'm not sure how it looks; I'm going to wait for feedback and listen. -→Buchanan-Hermit/!? 06:56, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm. Slightly better. But the maps still clearly have two highlighted colors standing apart from the background, which is potentially confusing. Granted, the white isn't as bold as the green was, but why not just fill Stanley Park with pink like all other unhighlighted areas? Sorry — don't mean to complain... your map effort really is fantastic, but you asked for feedback... ;-) --Ds13 07:15, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I did ask for feedback, so I'm not going to consider that a complaint. :) That is a good idea too... I'll have to experiment with it tomorrow though, as it is getting quite late. -→Buchanan-Hermit/!? 07:16, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
