Cozzens
editIt looks like you and I are the Wiki people for James Gould Cozzens. You did a good job on The Just and The Unjust. Hope you can check out what I did on By Love Possessed and improve it. Should we try to get them all up ? I have a little trouble with the earlier works. He really kept getting better so the earlier stuff is not great. I've got a pretty good collection on stuff by and about him including a couple of rare items (Rope for Doctor Webster and Flowers in her Hair). May not get much done for a while but will keep at it.

Peter--methinks you may be right. Give me some time to drag out my copy of By Love Possessed and do a quick re-read. I concur with your assessment of his improvement--and By Love was imo his most crafted work. Keep in touch. --Buckboard 15:19, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I started reading him a long time ago. Maybe 30 years. In George Will's column there was a recommendation of Guard of Honor. I went to the libarary for it. It wasn't there so I picked up Morning Noon and Night. Essentailly I ended up readin the novels close to backwards. What I found interesting in the By Love controversey was the comments that it destroyed his career. The fact is Morning Noon and Night took about as long after By Love as as Love did aftter Guard of Honor. He stopped writing when he stopped drinking. There must be some sort of lesson there. I was looking at Children and Others the other night. There are two civil war stories which really make me regret that he abandoned his civil war noverl. The final story is really great. It refers to a fictionalized verson of the Oneida community (that's my speculation).

Destroyers for Bases Agreement
editThanks for adding some more info to the article a few days ago, but rather than editing it & saving the page over a dozen times in a short period of time, try using the "Show preview" button, then once all looks fine, use the save page button. It'll save time for not only me but also others when looking at the history of it. That-Vela-Fella (talk) 07:22, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanx for the tip. I'll look for that and try it. Too bad others aren't as civiilzed. The delete happy and their bots took out my entire account, leaving me to wonder if I will ever edit again. A real reward for several years of hard work. Looks like you needn't have bothered.--Buckboard 07:18, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
