Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

• adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
• comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
• follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
• comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
• refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. I don't know why he reverted good edits. Any explanation? It says rv socking, but I am checking the edits which were reverted and they look correct. BunicaValea (talk) 00:14, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Whether they are correct or not is irrelevant. Blocked or banned editors are not allowed to edit articles, that's kind of the point of being blocked. Spiderone^{(Talk to Spider)} 00:16, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Looks like stupid policy. I checked the reverted edits and they look correct. Wikipedia looks more like police state. You've given the right to block users and revert edits and you abuse it. You can continue doing it but people with good intention will not edit Wikipedia anymore and will dedicate their time to something more useful. BunicaValea (talk) 00:18, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Norwegian expatriate sportspeople in Ukraine

A tag has been placed on Category:Norwegian expatriate sportspeople in Ukraine indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
