editHello, Butterflygirl33, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.
I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. editHi. I moved your article back into a sandbox, because it isn't ready for mainspace yet. It's currently at User:Butterflygirl33/sandbox2. Part of your problem is that you created your draft on the talk page of your sandbox, instead of doing it in your sandbox proper, which meant that you didn't have access to the visual editor.
A Wikipedia article needs to open with a lead section. The lead should start with the title of the article, in bold, followed by a brief statement of what it is. Something like Adolescent sleep is...
or The sleep needs of adolescents...
. The opening sentence needs to include enough information so that someone who only reads the opening sentence comes away with some sense of what the topic is about.
The rest of the lead should summarize all the major points of the article, and do so in relation to the way they're covered in the body of the article. There shouldn't be any information in the lead that isn't discussed in more depth in the body of the article.
After this, you need sections. Your section headers should be clear, and should be formatted as headers, not just as bolded text. You need to include inline references that support every statement in your article, and the references should be placed immediately after the sentence or sentences they support. You need at least one reference per paragraph, and there shouldn't be anything in a paragraph after the last reference. You should link terms that the average reader might not be familiar with.
I have linked to the "Editing Wikipedia" brochure. Please have a look at pages 7-9 for more helpful information about layout. Finally, before you move your article to mainspace, please go through the checklist on the Dashboard. And remember that only the first word of an article title should be capitalised. - Butterflygirl33, the article still isn't remotely ready, for the reasons given by Ian (Wiki Ed) above. The key thing that's missing is a citation to a reliable source in each section; you also need a {{reflist}} at the end of the article. And to put it in some categories. And to wikilink to other articles. In short, it's not remotely ready, as I said. Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:03, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
- I moved it back to your sandbox, for the reasons that Chiswick Chap explained. Please make the necessary changes before you move it live. Thanks. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:21, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
