Hi, BuzzBrown. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  17:34, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

  • Dave, Your are correct, I spent a lot of time over several years researching Charles Oliver Brown. First of all, I am in no way related to Dr. Brown if that is one of your concerns. We stumbled on Dr. Brown when we were doing research for a reenactment (1999) of General Sherman's speech at the Michigan Military Academy (1879). Understanding Sherman's enormous popularity at the time I was interested why General Sherman had this young pastor sit with him on the speaker's platform. I believe Brown's writings and speeches as a minister after the Civil War are extremely noteworthy. As you will see from my additions to the opening paragraph, Brown is cited as late as 2008. Needless to say the highly publicized blackmail case in San Francisco still needs more research. We ([www.gwbhs.com GWBHS]) are hoping the Wikipedia article will surface more information on Sherman's speech at the MMA and Brown's blackmail case.

I believe Brown's article needs to be reviewed. When Fred Shapiro was compiling the Yale Book of Quotations, he called three times to review my research on Dr. Brown, General Sherman and "War is Hell." Shapiro included a reference to Dr. Brown on page 708 of the Yale book.
