Username Reflecting Company
editI chose this username because I am in fact employed by Bye Aerospace as their digital media representative and I noticed that our Wiki Page was severely out of date and I am updating information to my knowledge as an employee and with the approval of our CEO, George Bye.
EDIT: I am new to Wikipedia. I have used it countless times but never have I tried to edit/create pages myself. And none of my edits seem to stay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ByeAerospaceInc. (talk • contribs)
- Thanks for your explanation here. Using a company name violates Wikipedia's user name policies, linked above. You need to create an individual account to edit on Wikipedia instead.
- Your edits keep getting reverted because you are removing information cited to reliable sources, such as the aviation media, and replacing it with uncited text. I removed your most recent posts because I could not source the changes you made, even on the company website. In fact some of the changes you made, like changing the manufacturer to Bye Aerospace, contradict the company website, which says that the aircraft is being developed by the "Aero Electric Aircraft Corporation", not Bye Aerospace.
- This account is likely to be blocked shortly, due to the user name issue. What you should do is start an individual account, clearly state on your new user page that you work for Bye Aerospace and that you are in a conflict of interest and then make suggestions for changes to the Wikipedia article in question on the article talk page Talk:Aero Electric Sun Flyer. Editors who are not in a conflict of interest will assess your requests and make the changes to the article, as required.
- The first thing you are going to be asked for are references for the changes you want made, like the aircraft weight, number of batteries, etc. Right now the company website has almost no information on the Sun Flyer at all, so a good place to start would be getting full specs and such up on the company website, then that website can be used as a ref to update the article. Right now we have nothing to go on apart from the cited aviation media articles. - Ahunt (talk) 21:07, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying. I will follow your requests. Currently our CEO would rather have the specifications on an "Ask" basis, and is happy to provide them to interested people but I will see if he is comfortable adding the specifications on our website and will link to there in the future. And yes, we are currently undergoing merging with Aero Electric Aircraft Corporation but no media or anything has been released on it yet. I will inform our CEO of this. One question I do have is when the merging is complete, the name of the page will have to be "Bye Aerospace Sun Flyer" instead of "Aero Electric Sun Flyer". I have been unable to change that within the source code. Is that something an editor like yourself would have to do? ByeAerospaceInc. (talk) 21:19, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I can change all of that, including the page name. If you can get the specs and company changes onto the company website and let me know where they are posted, then I will be happy to work with you to update the article. - Ahunt (talk) 21:21, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, I would greatly appreciate it. Is there a better way to let you know when they are posted? I haven't noted a DM mechanism for Wiki and while I sent a request in to have a new username, I don't know if I'll be able to access this thread later. ByeAerospaceInc. (talk) 21:26, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Also, where can I add to my profile that I am an employee for Bye Aerospace, Inc. and I am a COI? Thank you. ByeAerospaceInc. (talk) 21:29, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- It looks like your username change has happened! You can just put a note on your company affiliation on your user page at User:Beekachu, if you like. There is no set format, but this one: User:Albert Metcalfe is a pretty good example. It doesn't have to be that verbose, though. - Ahunt (talk) 23:03, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Once you have some info posted on the company website, it would be best to request edits and post links to the new info right at Talk:Aero Electric Sun Flyer. That way anyone who is watching that article will be able to assist. I am here most days though, so you should get a quick response. - Ahunt (talk) 23:05, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
