Multiple Accounts

Hi. I've just read your user page. Perhaps you should read WP:Multiple Accounts and ensure you are complying with it. I'm not sure "having a COI" falls under allowable reasons. So you should proceed with caution. --Escape Orbit ^(Talk) 22:42, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

I have mentioned it a few places to see if it is problematic, including on the Changing Usernames board and noticed a similar approach here. It seems like a good idea. However, if it is a problem, I'm happy to work something else out. My editing behavior will make it obvious which is my main account - at least as I transition - and I have no plans to edit in the same areas on both accounts. If it is a problem, I can default to Fresh Start and in the future edit only where I have a COI. COIDave (talk) 16:36, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

RE your excellent editing

Thanks for the excellent work on two pages! Yes, I'll take another look (on the weekend) as I am not traveling to remaining professional regionals like my mentor, coach, and business partner. I am, however, intently working on sending out a review this morning of last evening's debate. Your work is so good that it can go in as a much better revision on the two pages and those with inherent interests can make refinements after they are in place. Thanks!! I agree, others can and are welcome to make improvements. So many conflict of interest editors have made poor contributions to Wikipedia, my primary objective is making sure we are doing everything by the book sort of speak.

I went ahead and moved it to article-space, but pulled out the few sentences on Sall's net worth, as that seems like it would be a sensitive subject that is worth bringing attention to by an impartial editor. COIDave (talk) 15:18, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Given the nature of your edits, can you please link up your two accounts per the usual practice (a note on the user page) so as to avoid confusion. It's important the due to the nature of your work (which spans company articles both paid-for and, I presume, volunteer) that editors can apply proper scrutiny. Sure. I asked a member of ArbCom about this, but never did get a response. I think I ultimately decided to just use one account, but kept this around for areas where I have already used it. The main problem with disclosing my volunteer account is it effectively defeats the purpose of protecting my identity (as a volunteer) from companies I'm helping. I have grown to take protecting my identity more seriously over time. For example, say I'm working with company XYZ and their PR team are PRSA members - they realize I added a controversy section to the PRSA article and suddenly there's this word-of-mouth effect that I am trashing my colleagues on Wikipedia. I am still poking around trying to figure out the best way to handle it and I just don't know the best solution.
