editHey man
editMy name's Russell. I saw your comment on my user page and I thank you for your contribution to the talk page and answering some of my questions.
I see that you study international relations, which is something I am pursuing in college and life beyond. I was wondering if you've ever done Model United Nations... I don't know if it's popular in the UK, but over here in the western United States of America (and yes, I put the effort to say of America for Member State integrity) it's quite big among high school and college students.
In MUN we've always avoided the topic of Taiwan's sovereignty because there's just too much political lingo behind it and whichever student that delegates China will obviously veto any resolution that tries to get Taiwan into the UN as a Member State. As of now and a few decades back, China has assumed territorial sovereignty over Taiwan without approval from the UN. I have not come across a single Security Council resolution that states that Taiwan is under the jurisdiction of China. Remember, GA resolutions are nonbinding, meaning it's perfectly legal to disobey a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly. I can't even see why Taiwan had to comply by GA resolution 2758. What and where was the legality of that? The Security Council didn't even consider the matter yet.
What happened to Article 2(4) of the UN Charter? Why isn't applicable here?

It's me again. I was wondering if you were interested in adding on to the Small arms proliferation wikipage. Currently, it's very lacking and has some outdated statistics. Here is a paper I have written up for my school's MUN program. It's on small arms trade.

Hello
editSo you dislike Tony Blair's authoritarianism, identify as left wing, like Pink Floyd and Terry Pratchet. Sounds like you and I have a lot in common. I noticed you say on your user page that you find it hard to pin down any particular ideology. I've been interested in Anarchism for the last five or six years. Have you tried the Political Compass? It's quite a nice little set of questions, and it will show you just where you stand in relation to others on the political spectrum. I come out very anti-authoritarian and very left wing, but no surprise there. All the best. Alun 12:50, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
