Speedy deletion of Alfred Callegari
editA tag has been placed on Alfred Callegari, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

editPlease do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Center for Jewish History. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. TravellingCari 20:24, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
- What can I do now?
You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Response to your e-mail
editwhich I will not publish here out of courtesy. You're doing PR for the museum, you're paid to promote the museum. No, "authorized representatives" don't get any greater say over what's said which must be neutral and verified from reliable sources. Re your question, If authorized representatives, paid or otherwise, are not allowed to make changes or updates than is it left to random strangers or any member of the general public? Yes, that's exactly who edits wikipedia. Those with a conflict of interest are discouraged from editing their own pages (or those which they are paid to represent). Your edits were not neutral and non-promotional, nor were this or this edit. Text such as: ll those treasures – and much more – come alive at the Center for Jewish History, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and home to an unmatched wealth of resources that both illuminate a rich and diverse Jewish past, and provide inspiration for a vibrant, shared future, while appropriate for the promotional work you do for the Center, is not appropriate for an encyclopedia. This account will not be unblocked as it violates the policy on usernames. If approved you'd have to start a new name. I would not unblock you since I believe you'd just continue to spam, since that's what your contributions have been, but I would leave it for another administrator to decide by reviewing your contributions, nearly all of which have been deleted as spam or reverted. Please do not contact me off wiki, you're free to edit here while blocked. I will not respond to off wiki contact. THank you TravellingCari 02:05, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
