Possible bot work

edit

Nice work on the leading zero's. I wondered if your bot would be able to clean up some more common airport errors. The first type can be seen at Barnstable Municipal Airport. The runway should be in the style XX/XX and not XX-XX. The second I don't have an example for right at hand, but runways should be listed as 10/28 and not 28/10. The lower number should be first. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 01:40, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks :-). Cleaning up those two other errors should be no problem, but let's make sure we have consensus first before going ahead. Feel free to propose it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airports and if there is consensus there then I'll have the bot do the run. —Mets501 (talk) 01:56, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Runways

edit

You wrote:

They are 180 degrees from each other. So if your runway is 02 then it would be 02/20. If it's an airport in the US then it would drop the leading 0 and be listed as 2/20. If you have the airport code then World Aero Data is the best place to look. If, based on where you are from, you are creating a airport in Indonesia, then this is the direct link to airports in Indonesia. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:09, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I get confused. about this things. I looked at another sources and it said it is 36/18. Then I looked WorldAeroData that you told me, and it said the direction of the airport is 182.0 and 002.0, and the runway number is 18 and 36 respectively. If you want to help here(for the airport) and here(for the airport's runway) is the World Aero Data for the airport and here is the wikipedia article. Thanks a lot --Nielswik 13:38, 11 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Thanks for leavin' me a message. I don't get very many of them, so they're quite pleasantly welcome. :)

I was following the format at Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports/infobox. In the template not even the first one is linked. I do understand what you're saying, though. I thought the same thing, that is... seeing half with, half without. I was putting them in the first box myself until I took a very close look at the link above.

A fair amount of the ones I'm removing are from articles I originally added. If you look through the history of a decent number of the airports in List of airports in California, you'll see that I've put them in at least 30 articles that I've created stubs for.

Anywho, thanks for the heads-up. I'm thinking, however, that if surface was to be linked, it would have been done in the template itself and not on the code for individual airport's infoboxes. :) Thadius856 04:00, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Note: I've stopped unlinking runway_surface until I hear otherwise from you, as a common courtesy. I guess I'll just stick to tracking down airports that aren't using {{coor dms||||||||}} yet and get those filled in. :) Thadius856 04:02, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good. I was actually following your lead, not knowing it was you doing that. :P Anywho, if it's in the infobox, does that count as the first occurence, or is the it the first occurence after the infobox? :) Thadius856 04:21, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense the way you're doing it, I suppose. Took me a few times to read through and understand it. All's well! Thadius856 04:37, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yep. AWB's kickin' butt for me. Take a peek at my contributions... I'm adding {{coor dms|||||||||}} like a WikiFool! :D Thadius856 04:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am wondering why numerous links to record reviews on Silent Uproar were deleted, when similar links to other media are allowed to stay. For example, Headlights (band) and Interpol (band) no longer hold the external links I provided to coverage.

Sorry, this posted twice.

Expansion of Wikiproject Hard Rock

edit

Dear WikiProject Hard Rock members,
This is a notice about the proposed expansion of the WikiProject, so the scope covers rock music in general, changing it from "WikiProject Hard Rock" to "Wikiproject Rock music". Like I pointed out to the creator, DavidJJJ, what falls under the scope of "hard rock" may come into dispute, and there is no existing WikiProject for rock in general, only WikiProject Alternative music and WikiProject Punk music come somewhat close. This expansion will hopefully in theory be a guide/directory, and bring much needed attention to articles of this genre. DavidJJJ has already given kudos to the idea, and it is encouraged that you express your thoughts and concerns on the WikiProject's talk page before anything goes forward. We hope start the transition soon. Until then, please, make your voice heard! Cheers. -- Reaper X 22:31, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just to let you know...

There are only 61 FSS across the country. 2 sites were closed at the end of September. There are also only 7 FICs. The NAV CANADA web site is not up to date. Whitehorse is not considered an FIC within NAV CANADA and Yellowknife never did get changed from an FSS to an FIC. In fact Yellowknife is losing most of its services to North Bay FIC.

I know all this because I am a NAV CANADA employee.

Help requested

edit

Hi

I'm writing to you - and others - because you are one of several people who appears to have experienced the same thing as I have noticed and experienced.

Namely a pattern of vandalism by an anonymous user. The IP # is 66.229.10.64

See this user's talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:66.229.10.64

This user has been temporarily blocked several times. I notice that the pattern is the same.

The person doesn't seem to respond to polite community requests to engage in dialogue - or to desist from repeatedly making edits that several editors consider to be vandalism.

I am not that experienced in these matters but can there be an attempt made to block this user permanently? Or at least for a period of time so that the person gets a message about respecting the community. Thanks. Davidpatrick 02:37, 20 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

{{Largest and smallest census divisions of Canada by area}}

edit

Hi again CambridgeBay[hope the]Weather[isn't unpleasant],

You had "Champlain ... as the smallest but List of Quebec regions and the Quebec Government say that Laval, Quebec is the smallest...

Thanks for spotting and correcting!  Have also propogated {{Largest and smallest census divisions of Canada by population}} and am about to propogate {{Census metropolitan areas by size}} – hopefully I've compiled these correctly... Best wishes, David Kernow (talk) 00:17, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

I will leave it to you to make any further corrections.

Only one of your sources actually shows nine FICs and that is a map of the FIC project. The CFS shows 6 FICs across the country and YYB is still considered only an IFSS although we consider it an FIC in the company. So that means that there are only 6 regardless of what is put on the website. You can check the Aeronautical Information Circulars, found on the NAV CANADA webpage, to see that Dawson Creek FSS and Prince George FSS are now closed which means as of today there are only 61 FSS across the country. If you decide to do that then you will also notice the FSS in Roberval will close in November. You can expect to see something in the coming months stating the IFSS functions in YYB will be moving to YQX, March 15/07 is the switch over date. That will probably the same time YYB will be published as a FIC.

In answer to your question I am a WG ACC controller.

Moorish Rite Freemasonry

edit

I'm just wondering why that was an invalid speedy? My rationale was this: not only the earlier article about the same group already AfDed, but the website shows that the group dates from about 1998 (at earliest) and operates in only a few US states. Moreover, the group is not recognized by mainstream Masons (the ones everyone writes books about). This group is also not affiliated with the Moorish Science Temple of the USA, which is apparently a notable group. MSJapan 20:39, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Would you therefore remove it from the list of airports requiring clean up on the project page? I think your project has a misleading name.
