As someone who works at said airport, all I know is that ATCO Frontec has a contract to provide maintenance services for the airfield, such as snow removal, grass cutting, etc. The airport itself is operated by the Edmonton Airport Authority. Ditar (Talk) 20:18, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Canadian Water Aerodromes

CBW, I saw your message on Eagle 101's page about the bot work. We're currently running the bot through all articles in {{airport-stub}} and all subs, adding |class=Stub|importance=.

I realize that they're all low priority, but since the bot is just starting its run of over 2000+ articles and has a high counter, it'll take a while. In the mean time, I used AWB to make a list and filtered out all non-water aerodromes. I'll be tagging them momentarily.

If you'd like to chat, we have an IRC channel that we monitor pretty reliably. Low Visibility Operations at BRS

Your advice please. I can see an edit war starting about the relative merits of easyJet and BA Connect aircraft and their merits as appplied to operations at BRS.

Your thought on the matters would be of use. I have difficulty seeing this a balance without equal treatment being applied to other airlines (and at other airports!!)

Hi CambridgeBayWeather,

I've noticed that you've been removing edits by 70.54.215.245, which has basically been additions of the company "Novajet" to airports around Canada. It seems to be a means of adding publicity. I don't know if you've bothered to check, but that IP address returns to the physical location of the company Novajet. As you may be more experienced with Wikipedia than I, is there a way of blocking this IP for both the use of self-promotion and adding information that isn't true? VP Glitch

Haven't seen it do that yet? Thanks for the cover! I have noticed every now and then it freezes up and vandalism warnings(if I don't catch it when it happens) sit for a half an hour or more before saving. I find I am using VP as a "pre-viewer" and then using popups and ARV to do the rest. I will try to back-track on changes to see that it doesn't do that again. Again thanks, cheers and take care! Excuse me, but those links were not spam on the skateboarding page, Quarter Snacks for example lists many spots to skate in New York City (which happens to be one of the centers of skateboarding). It also shows videos and photos of trips and etc) This is not SPAM it is a resource for skaters to see whats going on in t the new york scene.

I will be REPOSTING that link because it is a viable resrouce for skaters who visit and live in in NYC .

My goodness. There has been a real flare-up concerning various Somali clan-related articles over the past two or three days. I had to leave a round of 3RR warnings concerning a few other articles on Friday evening. Maybe I'm missing something really obvious (it's the middle of the night and I couldn't sleep), but I can't really find a policy concerning inflammatory statements (e.g. [1],[2]) (other than NPOV or citing references). "No personal attacks" and "be civil" seem to be related to interactions between specific editors, and not ethnic slurs (and I can't see those edits as anything else). I feel like I am watching a turf war (I just don't know how else to describe it) being played out in these articles. (You and I have watched this sort of thing happen on-and-off for about one year now but, like I said, it has really flared up very recently.) United Kingdom Aeronautical Information Publication

I think ColinFine's comment on Leeds Bradford International Airport has merit. As it stands the United Kingdom Aeronautical Information Publication link as a reference is useless - it does not identify how to verify the information, it does not say which volume, which year, etc. If it is a reference then it needs to be formatted properly so people can use it to verify info in the article. Please could you fix your eyes on Saleebaan article, because a bunch of guys with clannish and hatred prejudice are constantly attempting to badly edit all the time. I can understand their motive, for they dislike the Saleebaan clan and its nobility to be seen here. It's indeed remorseful if any chauvanist could change whatever he wants!

Deletion of "memorability" response

CambridgeBayWeather, I understand your argument for thinking that the article posting was "soliciting", however that it is very incorrect. We weren't soliciting, but we do want to receive just notariety for using terms in pioneering ways.

Not to mention that their was essentially no research done to see if people "are using the term" or not. If one would have taken the time to look into the matter before it was deleted (very quickly at that), you'd see that quite a few professionals have cited the term (and the guide, which I linked to in the article for reference accuracy...not publicity!) on their sites and blogs.

Uses of the term "memorability" regarding domain names

I understand and agree with "policing" the wiki for blatant misuse, but we don't think we were violating the spirit of the rule any more than their being a whole article on "McDonald's". (Now there is some blatant advertising. Don't people think we all know what McDonald's is already? Why can't people learn something new from Wikipedia!?!)

We are very interested in re-entering the term in the future. (We think we'll re-edit to make it more "wiki-friendly")

RE: The Older Gamers and it's deletion

If the article itself hadn't been deleted in such an offhanded fashion, the deleter may well have seen some change in the disposition of the content.

I was in fact in the process of changing the article to be a social and historical account of The Older Gamers.

The article was intended to be a stub, which may then have been edited by other users.

I find myself disappointed by the draconian nature of this wikipedia 'editor'.

As was mentioned in the deleted talk page for the article, that content was not even a place holder it was placed there simply as a reference for myself while creating correct content.

If your hadn't deleted it so out of hand you would have seen it dramatically changed in the very next edition of the page.

I have to say once again that I am very disappointed in the manner in which you handled this matter.

The breakneck speed in which you deleted both the article and it's talk page, leaving no chance for discussion, is almost beyond belief.

The fact of not knowing whether someone was editing the article is my whole point, you didn't allow the article to live for long enough to allow any editing, you simply deleted it, no discussion allowed!

I appreciate the fact that you have a job to do, but you didn't allow discussion where relevant facts may have been brought to light.

Prominent figures in Somali clans

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, I saw you working on some of the Somali clan articles and was wondering what you thought about the Prominent figures sections. (For example:Habar Gedir) Many of the names listed are living. It isn't simply a list of names, and there are claims attached. None of the claims are cited. I asked the people at WPtalk:V if I should erase them or what and they said it was a judgement call. What do you think? Jesse Samek

Looks like you deleted the article i wrote on Jesse Samek, he is noticable in the U.S. Air Force and is in our official publication of military history. I don't think I need to discuss what the publication is due to it being military, but I believe the article should be undeleted. Deleted Links on Angelman Syndrome page

I placed extra links on the bottom of the Angelman Syndrome page Angelman Syndrome to further educate people about Angelman Syndrome and you have removed these links twice. You are correct, Wikipedia isn't a support agency, but it is a resource to help educate the world, of which families are the core constituents.

• Please tell me why you are deleting these links?
• Do the links further educate people about Angelman Syndrome?
• Are the links I posted in breach of the Wikipedia policies?
• Why is it that you have permitted certain links and others have been removed?

You say that: "Wikipedia isn't a support agency and should not link to forums", well, I ask you, where does it say that in Wikipedia's list of policies and guidelines? Because, I have searched them and I cannot find one policy in support of your argument.

Brampton Airport

Those coordinates were wrong? They were from the bramfly website. Anyway, is there anyway to get the correct ones to appear both in the table, and up above? Google Earth's released a new layer that uses type of tag that I inserted to dot the map with our articles. I'm going to be talking with the developers (I've got their email from Brad Patrick) and can suggest the next release of the feature scan the whole article for coordinates, not just the top. -- Zanimum 14:44, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I understand completely.

However, I feel that Kid Dakota's page didn't necessarily need to be deleted. They are a legitimate band with plenty of notariaty. Yes, the general definition needed some redefining, but that's all really.

I undestand that using my own words is better than copying and pasting. On the other hand I thought it was permissable to do so granted that it was properly documented. I'm not entirely sure I cited my source correctly, but I did cite it.

That having been said, I'm going to, once again, create the Kid Dakota wiki excluding the copied band description. And this time hopefully it won't be immediately deleted.

Well, maybe, but just because Xilinx has an article doesn't mean their every product or process necessarily rates an article also, and "30% - 70% less expensive than a standard FPGA" would need to some serious cites from respected, verifiable, and neutral sources... sounds spammy to me, but anyway I sent it to AfD to sort it all out. I went to the Wikimedia-wide spam blacklist and based on what I read on the talk page I don't think there is much chance of it getting blacklisted yet. So far the only times the site has been added are from here and here. I also checked out the Search web links page and there's no current links. OK that's different if you've been under attack for months. I forgot to look at the history of the pages and just the IP's of the two spammers. You might have a case. Excellent. Here is the report. User:E. Sn0 =31337=/sandbox/cordyceps vandal. Note that I've discovered more IPs in the articles' histories than I've personally done battle with. Done but it looks like they have a long backlog. If you find any more add them to the User:E. Sn0 =31337=/sandbox/cordyceps vandal but don't delete it until after someone looks at the case. Image the Arms of Sir Robert Bell

Hello, It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me remove several duplicate images. Further, I have recently attempted to revert one of the images and I cant seem to manage having the image displayed at the preferred resolutiuon 500px. I would like to delete the larger 1027 X 1042i image. You helped me long ago when I was just getting started and I have since added a little more content. I do not believe that the image that I would like deleted is currently displayed, however it still can be viewed. I have rechecked the other 500px image, and it now is displayed properly. Re: Removal of the image. I am not sure why the image still appears? I have consulted the revert history on the image page and the larger image can still be found 1027x....Just trying to clean up the pages and reduce the data on the servers. James Armstrong Richardson International Airport

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, the name choice for the new airport in Wininpeg is a little more contrived than that. The official ceremony that was a rushed and slapped-together affair was in reponse to an inadvertent release of the proposed name change for the new terminal complex by a Transport Canada official in a "everybody gets this" email. The name was intended to be released to mark the opening of the new terminal in 2009 but now has been attached to the older building as well. Why do I know this- I got the original email that was sent out by mistake and then sat back to watch the fireworks. LOL Bzuk 13:14, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I am sorry to bother you, but am a little unsure about this process, I am not slightly, more very new to this.

You have tagged the article in question as "proposed to be deleted" due to non-notable and advertising.

I would really appreciate your help in working out what I have done incorrectly, I am not sure what non-notable is (having difficulty finding it here) but as for advertising, I was careful not to put too much other than who Coll is. I looked at the entry for "Bruce Clay" when putting this together and I had thought there was not that much difference.

Thank you for the advice. As much as I love wikipedia (recently wrote an assignment for Berkeley on wiki vs EB - A of course :-)

I am still very new to editing/contributing here, and all advice is so much appreciated. I am off to read what you have suggested and am glad for both your help and purple rains. I found it tricky navigating around the help area (although must admit cheat sheet is good), once I get my head around this I'm thinking of doing a page on "Wiki for Dummies" a type of quick start guide - by yes, the biggest dummy here...

I chose to compile the Barbara Coll page after I heard her speak on the subject of SEO at Google the other night, and found no entry about her on Wikipedia. At the time I thought it smart to include a little about the subject matter - SEO and SEM - that she is known for, yet that was removed. I was wondering why that is so; particularly as I put in very little and linked to other Wiki pages that defined it better. Just another dumb question I guess, but learning is good, and if you have the time, I would love to know the answer.

Thanks for the response. Environment Canada is not the source for the AVIATION weather on the webpage. The aviation weather source is the NOAA server for the AVIATION TAF/METAR weather. It's contained by an iframe tag. If you have a clean and easy way to code an iframe tag that contains the TAF METAR information within the wiki-page let me know and I'll change it. There is other information contained on the webpage including a Google Map of the airport and a Airport Technical Information Link. Revert war on article "Vaisala".

The "Vaisala" page has been back and forth half a dozen times recently. What's the problem? You keep claiming a copyright violation and lack of proof of permission. How does one prove permission? Send a note on Company letterhead to every person who edits Wikipedia?

User:Makimant works with me and English is not his first language. I dare say too that his understanding of copyright law is not at the level of an IP lawyer. Can't you cut him some slack and be more helpful than destructive? I *know* you aren't acting on complaints from the copyright holder because I have inside information that permission is indeed granted. (Ah, but how to PROVE it to your satisfaction?)

IATA Airport Lists

I saw that the IATA lists for airports are currently uncategorized. I would be glad to tackle this rather simple (but tedious) job, but wanted to get an OK from someone with a better clue than I have on the project. new contributor seeking more help please

Hi,

Thank you for your help a few weeks ago with my first article here about Barbara Coll. I write to you seeking help again please. I am a grad journalism student with a passion for technology and a developing interest in SEO--this is why I began this article.

After your kind advice, I researched Coll quite a bit (days....) and updated the article, in fact was still in the process. I found links to where she was referenced in New York Times and Business Week and believed (after reading the info/links you provided, thank you) that they were great sources.

To show she is an established and well known national speaker, I put in links to where she has spoken around the country and for whom. I also included awards and was in the process of finding information about her education and family. This is largely as my understanding of encyclopedia's is they are to contain all information on a subject.

During the past week, an editor has gone in and removed (argh :-) - (sorry, took me ages..)all my research and is suggesting I put in links to blogs and forums, which I understood are not generally accepted by Wikipedia. He has deleted so much and now the article is listed to be removed again. I do understand the open nature of Wikipedia and as such do not wish to get into any type of "disagreement" with anyone who makes changes but feel I was right in what I had included. I do not want to cause angst to anyone here, and figured you have been here for some time and could potentially guide me a little more please, if you have the time, to make sure I don't annoy anyone and to ensure I do abide by Wikipedia's guidelines. I am sorry to dump this on you but really don't know anyone else who seems to know enough. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
