Hello Cambridge! Good to hear from you. Interesting article... I'm giving it a go and will return to it in a bit. I've added an Ihalmiut mention to Joseph Tyrrell article whose expeditions had first contact with them, and added an Ihalmiut book to the Farley Mowat article, who wrote about them. Oh, and a mention about Ihalmiut at the Ennadai Lake article, an area they once inhabited. Help: if you click on the citation on the Ennadai Lake article, it mentions that the Ihalmiut were moved from there to Henrik Lake. For the moment, I can't find anything (I will search more), on Henrik Lake. But the Ihalmiut article states the people were moved to Eskimo Point. Do you know where that is in relation to Ennadai Lake and Henrik Lake? One last question: there's no wiki article on Canada's "Barren Lands"? Cheers, happy holidays. Rosiestephenson (talk) 00:37, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've added some information to Ihalmiut; can you double-check it as there are a lot of references? If there's enough new info to warrant a DYK? nomination, go for it. I also made some minor edits to Farley Mowat, Arviat, Nunavut, Dubawnt Lake, Kazan River, Barren-ground Caribou, and People of the Deer, basically to link information. Cheers, Rosiestephenson (talk) 05:25, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Good edits on Ihalimut; like the new articles. Yes, I read the Mowat criticism section yesterday and it made me cautious about his Ihalmut work, but since I couldn't locate any web articles refuting Mowat's Ihalimut stuff, I figured it was accurate. What got me excited was the "Ahiarmiut" info you found; I'll look at that more closely in the next couple of days. Also, I'll research the variety of Inuit who might be considered Caribou Eskimo/Caribou Inuit. If you haven't seen this already (especially the Human Heritage section), you might find it interesting reading... "Padleimiut" ("Padlermiut"?), Harvaqtormiut. Also see references to them and Caribou Inuit here. Cheers Rosiestephenson (talk) 03:01, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Your comments made sense, so I made the change for Ahiarmiut's translation. What I'm still looking for is a sourced explanation as to why this Inuit band is sometimes referred to as Ahiarmiut, sometimes Ihalmiut, and, rarely, Ahialmiut, though I suspect that's a transliteration. In my quest, I found this. Unfortunately, my 4 yrs of high school French aren't up to the translation; so... how's your French? Cheers Rosiestephenson (talk) 09:02, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding your note on Angulalik, I added he was Ahiarmiut on Red Pedersen's page. Btw, I am curious about a word on the Angulalik web page: Kuugjuarmiut. Wondering if you had any information as googling it didn't pull up anything substantive. Cheers Rosiestephenson (talk) 10:02, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Barney ep list number fix...thanks!
editI swear, I thought I'd fixed that season number thing in List of Barney & Friends episodes and videos--obviously I didn't! (That was the work of that guy who sets up episode links as redirects to the original page--I reported him for doing that, and was amazed by the WTF-ness of randomly changing ONE season title to a number, out of eleven seasons which were all correctly formatted...man, you just wonder what goes through some folks' minds, dontcha??) Anyway, thanks for catching that one...could have easily slipped by for a long time!Gladys J Cortez 07:10, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Esterhazy Airport
editA tag has been placed on Esterhazy Airport requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AfD nomination of Esterhazy Airport
editI have nominated Esterhazy Airport, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Esterhazy Airport. Hi
editHi there,
I'd like to start something of a friendly discussion with you.
Could you please let me know what the problem is with worldtimeengine.com and if there is a problem, let me know how I can fix it?
I added the following focused links to 'Time In Australia' as well as many other pages but, alas, they are removed:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Time_in_Australia&oldid=184808421
Why wouldn't these be good external links for this resource?
Many thanks for your help,
Please be nice ;-),

editHello again,
Thank you for your reply. We will be working on getting the time resolutions to those places corrected. Then I will aim to contribute and discuss any additions on the talk page first.
Your feedback is very useful, so thanks (I'm not well versed in the ways of Wikipedia yet). As for the site, it's a big task (much like Wikipedia) but we're on it.
Thanks again,

RE: Message #13: Hi
editHi there,
We've undergone a large amount of work to make sure that the places you reviewed on World Time Engine are now displaying the correct local time. In fact, we have a whole new 'engine' part of World Time Engine, now including all official land and sea boundaries defined in United_Nations_Convention_on_the_Law_of_the_Sea (Territorial_waters). We also added Ulukhaktok, NT, Canada as you mentioned.
Just wanted to let you know that your feedback was useful and thank you for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richtibb (talk • contribs) 10:34, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

editHello CambridgeBayWeather, I thought I'd give you a heads-up on a new event on the Amanda Michalka and Alyson Michalka articles: there seems to be someone who keeps adding Category:German Americans to the pages despite the fact that there's nothing in the articles to say this (and nothing at all to source it). The person seems to change IPs too, and ignores attempts to contact them. I thought that, as you seem to watch these pages, you may want to know. Thanks. Acalamari 18:04, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Communities vs. settlements
editTake a look at Category:Communities and you'll see why we can't use that. Bearcat (talk) 06:34, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Generally, "settlement" by itself doesn't have a specific meaning in Canada — it may be shorthanded there, but normally the word "settlement" has to be preceded by the word "Indian" to actually mean a specific type of community. And for what it's worth, I do plan to keep refining the category structure until everything's filed as accurately as possible, including things like "Indian settlement" subcategories — I'm just getting hung up at the moment on the excruciating sloppiness that passes for Category:Communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. (If you hear a bloodcurdling scream emanating from Toronto anytime in the next half hour, it probably means I found yet another community that was linking to the undisambiguated Pasadena, which is rather obviously a redirect to the rather large city in California, instead of Pasadena, Newfoundland and Labrador.) Bearcat (talk) 06:41, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- The only thing I'd be adding to "Indian settlement" categories are the places that actually have the legal designation "Indian settlement" in the census (which some do). Believe me, I fully intend to make sure everything's categorized as cleanly and correctly as possible. Bearcat (talk) 06:55, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I've come across the article Parker's Notch, which seems to be about the border between the Northwest Territories and Nunavut but doesn't really clarify the relevance of its title. And a Google search comes up completely dry. Since you're the resident Arctic expert, could you take a look at this and see what it is or isn't, and maybe either improve it a bit or delete it if it's crap? Bearcat (talk) 21:09, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I also just now went to the Toronto Public Library website and put a request in for the John Parker book that's being cited as a reference. Hopefully I'll get it early to mid-week and can look over it to see what the deal is. And over at WP:CWNB, User:JGGardiner gave me a couple of web references that explicate Parker's role in drawing the NWT-Nunavut boundary ([1] and [2]); his guess seems to be that "Parker's Notch" is just a non-standard name for an article about the boundary dispute itself (which would be a good idea if we can manage it!) And after he was done he ended the call by telling me to tell every Liberian person to control your anger anytime you hear that Lakroukro word. Speedy deletion of 156 Arch. 4/2007 - 1/2008
editA tag has been placed on 156 Arch. 4/2007 - 1/2008 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. editLast night Michael Coren said "Outrageous lies have been told about me on wikipedia." He said he checks it regularly. I don't know what he's talking about. Everything is sourced and mostly from his own columns. Last time he also claimed that his family had been attacked on the wikipedia. That's absolute rubbish as far as I'm aware. By the way he lives in Oshawa so if he was writing the article himself it would make sense that it was from outside Toronto. Is it possible that wikipedia could sue him? editIt might be prudent to check pages after you've used AWB. - Further to this, I don't think it's an issue with AWB per se. Last night Smackbot made exactly the same change.diffs This problem would seem to have been the unnecessary "<br />" before the "</ref>" --AussieLegend (talk) 22:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
FYI on coordinates
editI noticed that you are moving the coordinates template from above the infobox to within the infobox on airport articles. Just an FYI, the coordinates are intentionally left above the infobox so that the airport articles will appear within Google Earth's Geographic Web Layer. See Template:Infobox Airport for more info. Either way is fine, I suppose, but I wouldn't rush around changing them all. - auburnpilot talk 23:12, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
WikiMapia on airport articles
editGreetings, I noticed that you added a Wikimapia link to the Arlington Municipal Airport (Oregon) article after you already removed it. When you removed it one of the reasons that you listed was "duplicated by coord template." For my own edification, what differences does the Wikimapia link provide that is greater then the link Coordinates in the info box for airports? At first glance they almost appear redundant. Thanks for the info, --Trashbag (talk) 23:37, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- As far as I am concerned they are redundant. Yesterday when I was making an edit I noticed the template wasn't working so i looked at the template and saw this. I assumed that the edit was good and started to remove the template from articles. Today when I restarted I had done about 90 when I noticed the template was working again and saw this. After looking at User talk:BrownHairedGirl#Coordinates, Wikipedia talk:External links#Links to map services and Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#BrownHairedGirl involved in tendentious and disruptive editing and leaving her a message I decided that the issue was not as clear cut as I had first thought. So I am restoring the map links and then if later a consensus to remove them becomes clear a bot can do it. Unfortunately I can't just roll them all back because there were other valid edits made as well. But personally, I don't care if the links to WikiMapia are removed and will not restore them a second time should someone else remove them. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 23:49, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, gotcha. I've always wondered about the link as I've only seen them on a handful of airport articles. --Trashbag (talk) 23:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Since I probably added most of those links, here is my perspective:
- Regarding the link being for WikiMapia instead of Google Maps or other sites that have aerial photos with overlaid maps (Yahoo, Live Maps, etc.): I find WikiMapia useful because it allows placing an outline around the airport and other items of interest (see O'Hare International Airport for an example). WikiMapia also allows adding a link to the airport's Wikipedia article.
- Regarding the advantages of a direct link versus clicking on the coordinates to view the GeoHack page: it allows a one-click option for an aerial view of the airport and it allows a wider range of zoom levels so the initial view can be more accurately scaled to the size of the airport. GeoHack has less-precise zoom levels which use a "type" parameter (see Template:GeoTemplate/doc#Scaling): "type:city" generates links for Google Maps and WikiMapia using the equivalent of zoom level 11, "type:airport" is zoom level 13, and "type:landmark" is zoom level 15. With the direct links I have used zoom levels from 12 through 16 depending on the size of the airport and the location (some areas only have satellite photography available at a zoom level of 13 or 14, while others have more detailed aerial photography allowing a zoom level of 15 or higher).
- There is an ongoing debate regarding the removal of direct mapping links, see the threads that CBW mentioned, plus another on the talk page for WP:GEO, starting with Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geographical coordinates #Geolinks: redirect or_not? and continuing through several subsequent headings. -- Zyxw (talk) 20:52, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good, I'll have to look in it (WikiMapia) more. Thanks for your time, --Trashbag (talk) 20:59, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Deletion
edithi im trying to add a biograph to the site for Simon Sevens but every time i have tried it has been deleted. the message i get is that its not significant which i don't under stand.
can u give me a idea of what is wrong with the biograph please.
Hull born and bred Simon was born on the 9th March 1974. He first dipped his toe into the music industry at the grand old age of seven, when he started playing the guitar.
His love and passion for music quickly progressed and by
the age of ten he was in his first band, playing Status Quo tracks with a friend from junior school.
Many school plays and appearances then followed
giving Simon an insatiable thirst for the "fame" that ensued.
The transition from junior school to senior school brought with
it Simon's interest in playing the drums (Although at this time
he still played the guitar on the side). In his second year of
senior school, Simon meet his future business partners, John
and Paul, two guitarists in the year below him. The unification
of these two young guitarists and the drummer, Simon, Provided
them with a steady influx of gigs for the rest of there school lives.
In their late teens, the boys were offered a deal with a
management company. They declined and as a result things
just seemed to dwindle away. Many years later, after
drumming his way through a number of bands, Simon got himself a job at Repercussion Music on Beverley
Road, Hull and went on to become close friends with
his employers, Phil and Tracy.
So, as the years passed by, Simon went from part time to full
time to manager of Repercussion Music. During this time and under
the control of his thirst for performing, Simon managed to play his
way through an ever incresing number of bands.
However playing in bands meant that Simon was in need of somewhere
to practise, and as Hull, typically, had nothing to offer, he set
about fixing this problem.
Enter John Hemmingway of 'Simon's school band' fame. Simon approached
him and asked if he would be interested in making a room for the two
bands Simon was playing in at the time. Enter another of Simon's
dear friends, Frank Preston, who found himself in a similar situation
to Simon - in a band with absolutely nowhere to rehearse.
So John and Simon set about finding a suitable building. This was found
on Wincolmlee, a building with lots of potential and that is now home to
recording studios. The site is also used as a dance studio and there is
a whisper of a bistro making an appearence sometime soon!
During the development of studio one, Simon was introduced to someone who was to be a HUGE influence on his life. Mike Simpson popped into Repercussion after spending several years in London, and ended working there teaching the drums.
Through Mike, Simon was introduced to his old friend and Simons now business partner, Marino De Silva. This unification of Marino and Simon means that the two are now riding the waves of music together, making multi award winning albums aswell as raising money for a number of charities worldwide. But despite this busy life Simon still manages to play the drums in the band Rapture and he also works as Stage Manager for Sean Finch and The Street Band.
Thank you

Not happy at all. I'm telling you stop messing Croatian threads. I do not care what your intentions were, if we need help we'll ask for it. There are plenty of us who can do that job, and I just started looking at each individual thread and updating and correcting grammar and spelling. editWhat would Wikipedia do iif there was an ACTUAL death threat against another user? Not just a trolling edit, I mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fiery Mastadon (talk • contribs) 08:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- There isn't an actual threat, I'm just curious as to what Wikipedia would do in such a case. Fiery Mastadon (talk) 08:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
For instance, some guy named Bob edits Wikipedia. He received an email from an editor with malicious intentions, though the email was in seemingly good intentions. In actuality it was so he could find a way to get Bob's personal information. He then tries to hack Bob's computer and dig up any private information (i.e. street address, work, phone number, etc.).
One day, as Bob was editing, he got a message. This message read as follows:
"If you don't leave Wikipedia, I'll see to it that you're days are numbered. I know your street address."
Bob just gets rid of it and assumes it's trolling. But then the harraser proves that he knows Bob's street address. Bob is so horrified he logs off of Wikipedia.
What would be done for Bob?
Thank you for that information. I now understand what Wikipedia would do in emmergency situations. Fiery Mastadon (talk) 10:23, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Village of Fredericktown, Ohio entry - your note
editRe: your note that said, verbatim, "Wikipedia does not use " in article names plus there is already an article about the village at Fredericktown, Ohio, which is the correct title. Please add to that," please note that the "Village of Fredericktown" entry I created refers to an entirely different Fredericktown, Ohio--this one is a village in the eastern Ohio county of Columbiana, rather than the Knox County, Ohio Fredericktown to which you refer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Beaverkettle (talk • contribs) 18:29, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:AWB Error message.JPG)
editThanks for uploading Image:AWB Error message.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 00:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
External map service links
editHello. You have been identified as having added or removed direct external map service links in articles[3]. There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:External links#Issues with inclusion or exclusion of map service links about which should be done, and some more opinions would be good to find community consensus. --Para (talk) 23:00, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
I am here concerning the article "Toronto Airport". NOticed how many times i have tried to edit it to a new interface but after someone changes it....
Could you please msg me back to concern this matter. It will be greatly appreciated.

Okok. In response, i think that if a person is looking for Toronto Airport, they are really looking for Toronto pearson airport. the majority of people who are looking for airport in toronto are looking for pearson, so why not just save them trouble and redirect them there? then just right "for other uses, please go to" your disambiguation page...... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Messiisking (talk • contribs) 22:08, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
I dont understand how there will be a second disambiguation page if toronto airport is redirected to Toronto Pearson Airport and that the list of airports page will be put beside the redirect.
like this: "Toronto Airport" redirects here. For other uses, see Toronto Airport (disambiguation) which redirects to List of toronto airports. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Messiisking (talk • contribs) 22:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, so i probably should just change toronto airport to a redirect page to toronto pearson with the disambugiation page to list of toronto airport? Messiisking (talk) 22:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
how to do "For other uses, see Toronto Airport (disambiguation). on pearson page? Messiisking (talk) 22:27, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Sybil Shearer
editHi Cambridge - You cut me off in mid-stream with the Shearer article. I was in the process of assembling facts from various sources, so that the end product would not have violated copyright, but in the interim I was cutting & pasting. Sybil Shearer is a truly great Canadian, someone who definitely merits Wikipedia inclusion. What are your thoughts on how to proceed??
Cheers,--Georgette.mccallum (talk) 01:12, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Sybil Shearer
editThanks Cambridge - Yes, I could work it out on my own computer then post it. Good suggestion. Is there any way I can recover what you deleted, so that I could use that stuff? I was about 90% of the way there, but I needed to go through the whole thing one more time. Please let me know - thanks. --Georgette.mccallum (talk) 04:18, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

qstat and qtracker
editPlease explain the sudden deletion of the qstat and the qtracker article. The short explanaition would basically qualify for a total deletion of the whole Cathegory Game Scanner Browsers, including Gamespy, Gamespy Arcade and Steam.
qstat is used on thousands of webpages and the most used command line scanner and qtracker has become the third most used browser over the last months.
Freddie Mercury photo
editHi Cambridge, I have no problem with the idea of removing my new Freddie Mercury image from the infobox of the article for the moment. Nevertheless, it is important that readers have the opportunity to see my arguments. For that reason, a link to the photograph needs to remain.
I am concerned about adding a “di-replaceable fair-use tag,” since the latest word on the talk page over there is that no one looks at these things. Check the latest posts on the talk page to see what I am talking about here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template_talk:Di-replaceable_fair_use_disputed&action=history. Here's an edit 4 u!!!!!!
editYou deleted my page that I used long and hard to build. Just because I actually have a real page away from the biggest scam on the internet (if you not smart enough to figure that out, it's Wikipedia) doesnt mean you can go off deleting pages. How would you like it if one day you booted up your computer and found your page GONE! All you are is a poorly informed supporter of a few bussinessmen who decided to make money by giving them the wrong information and all these ads to make a donation. I bid you farewell Wikipedian, but i will be back...... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Camoq (talk • contribs) 06:07, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
No, but I will trying and find out though. If I find the name of this mountain range I'll add it to the article. Black Tusk 17:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

3rr
editI haven't broken 3rr, although User:Havashavas1 has reverted 4 times in the past 24 hours. As for who is right, I couldn't tell you that, but I can say that there is no consensus on the talk page to restore this (almost certainly wrong) information to the article. This guy doesn't seem very communicative, so I thought I'd bring to you that he's once again creating redlinks on List of Barney & Friends episodes and videos. This guy concerns me a little...If you look at his pattern of edits, it's all Barney, and he'll make the same edit and revert it three or four times in the same day. Generally the edits are totally off the wall, like changing one item in a list to bold or something like that. I don't know what to make of his edits, and they don't appear productive in any way. Any thoughts? Gladys J Cortez 18:51, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

deletion of Jonathon Shively
editI was just wondering why my page was deleted.
It was unfinished and I was wondering if there was any way to create the page periodically, without having to leave the edit page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Djba52 (talk • contribs) 04:11, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Jonathon Shively
editjonathon shively is a local hero, which the maginitude of whom many believe is enough for NFL calibur playing. he is a basketball star and a former track athlete, who was made to quit the sport simply for the fact that he had to go to spring training for his first love, football. he had a main article appearance in the Asheville Citizen Times. Re: Arviat, Nunavut
editHey CambridgeBayWeather,
Sorry it took me so long for me to reply. I had a REALLY LONG Wikibreak away from Wikipedia due to my recent schoolwork (Hey, I am finally a high school student...) Anyways, I found the Urban Area population right here. This is a chart of population and all kinds of other demographical stuff. This chart listed all urban areas. You might also find useful as there are other similar charts that list out all the CSDs and CDs. Try to find Arviat in this chart, it's somewhere down there (P.S. It's in alphabetical order).
Sorry again for me taking so long.

NWT electoral districts.
editI think they look pretty good. Thanks for fixing the refs. eventually I will add in all the elections data from 1951 to 1999. All the official reports are available at my library. I am also looking for NWT elections data from 1891 to 1894, the Regina Leader microfiche has a lot of that data. I think the Sask Archives are missing a couple by-elections that they did not know about from that period and I have found results that they claim are missing. --Cloveious (talk) 01:16, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
My user page
editThanks. It happens all the time; that's why I don't keep any information on it any more. Some time ago there was an argument about whether or not I should be allowed to protect it (misuse of admin privileges or something) and I lost - so I gave up on it. But I'm grateful to you for looking out for me. Deb (talk) 21:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Venice airport and Italian user
editThe user seems to be new to Wikipedia in general (that is, not coming from another-language project) and he seems to have a poor command of the English language. I will leave a message in Italian on his talk page, recommending that he reads the Manual of Style and, should he have difficulties with English, I will include a link to the Manual of Style on the Italian-language Wikipedia. Let's see how he responds and take it from there. Redux (talk) 14:16, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Michael Ballantyne
editYes, he was in fact a one-time mayor of Yellowknife. Here is some information I have on him, if you want it:
Michael A. Ballantyne was born in Toronto in 1945 into a military family. Michael has been a resident of Yellowknife since 1969 when he came up here originally to visit family [his father was the first Director of the former Department of Resources, Wildlife and Economic Development (RWED)]. After he moved to Yellowknife, he worked at Giant Yellowknife Mines for four years. Michael was elected to City Council in 1978 and became Mayor from 1979-1983. He was elected as an MLA in 1983 and eventually became Speaker of the House. He oversaw the construction of the new Legislative Assembly Building. Michael remained undefeated during his political career. Michael is a founding Director of the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) and worked closely from 1980 to 1983 with the community and the Globe and Mail newspaper to raise the funds to build that performing arts theatre.
Hope this helps (sorry I didn't add to the article directly; I was just on my way out the door) -YK Timestalk 00:32, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
