I removed the imaged you edited on Ed Rosenthal because it is promotional in nature, and likely won't survive at Commons either. You can't use Wikipedia promotionally. If Ed wants to release a good headshot that isn't promotional and doesn't have trademarks and the like, I'm happy to help. I haven't talk to him in a couple of years, curious as to what is going on with him anyway. You can ping me on my talk page, I'm an admin here, so I'm pretty up on what is and isn't allowed, I'm happy to help. Ed and Jane have my number, tell them to give me a call some evening, would love to hear what is going on. Dennis Brown - 00:23, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • I was kind of serious that you can't use the photo. It isn't my opinion, it is pretty clear policy here that you can't use promotional images, and without a signed release on file, that photo gets treated like a copyright violation and can't be used. We do this to protect his property rights on the image. But again, even if you signed it, you can't use a promo shot with trademarks and such. It isn't allowed. I'm trying to help here....

edit

I told you, I'm trying to help here, but it is obvious you don't understand our policies on promotionalism. You can't do it here. Adding content means it must be sourced, and I'm glad to help, but you can't just use Wikipedia as an advertising medium, that isn't what it is. It isn't a social network. If you keep adding promotional material, I have to delete it, and some other admin is likely to just block you for spamming. The rules are strict about that here. Again, just ask for help and I'm glad to do it, but you can't go about it the way you have been. Dennis Brown - 21:00, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
