Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

As is obvious, I am new to editing at Wikipedia. I recently became the chair of the convention Capricon and in reviewing the list of science fiction conventions here at wikipedia, I noticed that some conventions had nice, informative pages while Capricon did not. So, I resolved to fix that issue and create a nice page that contained information about Capricon (not an advertisement). And in creating my username, I unknowingly violated the username rules. So, I will create a new account that is for me alone and is not related to the page. In regards to the Conflict of Interest Policy, I read that over and from what I understand, it says that I should exercise great caution when editing pages related to an organization that I am involved with. I believe that I have done so and have made a page as neutral as possible. If it is not, then please let me know what is not neutral so that it can be fixed.
