  Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to China Eastern Airlines Flight 5735. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 04:32, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am a commercial aviation expert. I didn't add my opinion. Everything I have added is facts and I have not drawn any conclusions other than adding information.

I am adding to what makes Wikipedia great. These people have little to no knowledge of commercial aviation and they are publishing misrepresented information and you are saying I am being disruptive. I have many decades of aviation experience and I am sharing this. Please use your common sense. Captain N334AA (talk) 08:01, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
China Eastern Airlines Flight 5735 was pilot suicide by the first officer. I didn't say it was. I just replaced the words 'possible intentional crash' with 'pilot suicide' which is what it is. Captain N334AA (talk) 08:03, 30 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

  Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours has an edit summary that appears to be inadequate, inaccurate, or inappropriate. Minor edits

edit

  Hi Captain N334AA! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Thanks for uploading File:1200px-Sky lease 747 overrun CYHZ.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

thanks Captain N334AA (talk) 15:00, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I would say about 15-20 is pretty much standard. If you can find more, even better! Good luck! Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 15:25, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

it does :) Captain N334AA (talk) 15:28, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I might also add that the lead section could do with some expansion, summarising the other sections (including the investigation); not just the accident. Hope that helps! - Andy happy new year to you too! Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 15:28, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
i resubmitted- lmk if more refs. and ill edit
)
thx, Captain N334AA (talk) 09:40, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for keeping going on about it, but I think a couple more things before I do accept it (and it's very, very close now, you've done very well here!):

  • The first and last sentences of the "Aircraft and flight" section need refs (if, for the first sentence, the information is contained in one of the references after the second sentence, you can "reuse" them in the Visual Editor);
  • The last sentence of the "Investigation" section needs a source.
  • I'm not sure if there's any more recent information - what I mean is, did anything happen after, like criminal convictions? If yes or no, then you can say so in an "Aftermath" section (although, obviously, that would need a source too), but only if you have a reference to say yes/no, of course.

Great work, well done, and let me know when you've finished that and I will accept it! Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 10:04, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

no worries, i understand it's important to verify everything Captain N334AA (talk) 10:05, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've added some "Citation Needed"s to clarify. Let me know when you've finished, of course. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 10:09, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi, let me know if anything else needs changing or adding to, appreciate your kindness and patience Captain N334AA (talk) 11:17, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't think so, great work. Going to accept it now, but perhaps with a different title which describes the accident more clearly. Maybe something like "2018 Halifax Stanfield Airport accident"? Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 11:19, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your username

edit

Heya, I heard through the grapevine that your username, while not an outright violation of WP:IU, could be potentially taken as rather offensive to some people. Would you consider changing it? Primefac (talk) 08:17, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, my intent was not for it to be offensive. I lost someone very close to me aboard American Airlines Flight 11. This is one way to remember and never forget them. Tbh this is what’s wrong with the world atm. Everyone is overly sensitive about everything. I don’t see what’s so offensive about it. I am not glorifying terrorism or the actions of those 19 creatures. I’ll probably change it. I just don’t see a problem with it Thanks Captain N334AA (talk) 08:25, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

No worries. Honestly, that's what I was thinking you might have meant when you chose the username. It is subtle, and I somewhat guessed that it was meant more as a tribute than anything. I don't think you necessarily need to request a username change at this point in time, just letting you know that it has been seen and commented on (and for what it's worth, I chatted with a few other admins about this yesterday and none of us felt that it was necessary to do anything other than give you a heads-up about it). Primefac (talk) 08:50, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Appreciate it man. God bless Captain N334AA (talk) 08:51, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

A note on edit summaries

edit

Hi @Captain N334AA, I’ve noticed that on a couple of occasions (such as here, here or here), your edit summaries have made statements such to the effect of demanding other editors leave your edits alone and do not change them. Please be aware that this goes against the entire premise of Wikipedia being a collaborative project - you do not own articles, and every editor has the right to make edits within the Wikipedia guidelines; you cannot demand that your edit is the be all and end all. Danners430 (talk) 14:46, 1 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, it was never my intention to break rules. I only add this to ask others to consider keeping my recommendation/s. Plus I’ve never implied that I own any articles apart from those I write myself. Thank you and god bless ❤️ Captain N334AA (talk) 14:48, 1 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
