DYK

In the beginning, there was a rule that dispute may be resolved after the 5 day deadline. The reason for this was partly that extremely well written Polish and Russian articles - as a rule - were subject of various disputes and quarrel. Right now, though, due to the substantial backlog of articles, I think we should apply this rule with some causion, and I'm not so sure that the expired articles such as Carla Thorneycroft, Baroness Thorneycroft's obituary (was it ever disputed?) may qualify. Thanks for the reminder. For your information I subscribe to 1RR policy (meaning, I do not engage in revert wars with editors who revert my good faith edits), however I do get upset when it happens – like everybody else I suppose – and occasionally vent my frustration on Talk pages. Usually though, I stay away from flash points for that exact reason.

Wapiennik

Could you please tell me why you deleted the entry "Wapiennik"? It was a surname entry, and also a word in Polish. I thought surname stubs are allowable. I saw others with far less information on them.

Sorry about this. Another user didn't think the topic of the article was notable, so he made a disambiguation page out of it. Roman Catholicism in Albania

Hello Carabinieri. I see that, after you user name, you speak German ;) Anyway, I just hit you by chance and I was reminded of the above mentioned article, which is a translation of 1911 (yes, that's not a typo, 1911) Encyclopaedia Britannica and, thus, is of little use since it regards Albania as a Turk possession and communism hasn't even arrived there, let alone vanished.

Still, there is a German article with updated info in this topic. I would only like to know whether you have the time, the energies or, simply, know someone that might, to do this translation: it is not a long article by all means.

If all you can do is add some template asking for translation (I have seen some of those around, but I can't remember when or where) then, please do.

Hi Carabinieri. I don't find the whole Translation page as intuitive as the dummy I am needs but it is my understanding that no one started the translation for this article. Hi Mountolive. I think it would be best to re-write the article completely. I also think it would be better to mostly work with several English-language sources I've found and only add information from the German Wikipedia when that's necessary, because that information is generally not (well-)referenced. So I've started a re-write of the article: here. I think the following sources would be pretty useful in writing this article: [2], [3], and [4]. In connection to this comment, I am responding here because the thread was removed from the page. I disagree with your characterization that while "legitimate, Soviet presence was the not legal in a formal sense". Legality issue here is very confusing. There is a whole mix of the international law, national laws and the laws of warfare. Advancing through a territory, occupied by the enemy in order to defeat the country that invaded you in the first place is an entirely legitimate action by the code of warfare. The agreement of the allies had the provisions of the military presence of their armies throughout Europe, as far as the international law is concerned. The issue at hand, is that the treaty that signed in 1956 was regulating further Soviet military presence. It being not formally regulated does not make it "not legal in a formal sense". I ammended the hook so that it sticks to fact and leaves the issue of "legal/not legal" out of this. --Irpen 21:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I guess the way you phrased it, the entry is probably the least controversial. But I don't think that anyone will disagree that according to Polish law having foreign guys with weapons in the country was illegal until they were formally granted the right to in 1956. Hi - if you have time, would you mind looking at the two articles that I added to the Suggestions page for 25 April and see if you can swap out on of the entries from 26 April (I would do it myself, but I don't want to promote my own nomination). Both are cricketer biographies, so I doubt they will both get selected for the update after next, and they could well be too old by the time of the update after that. Project news Criteria for B-Class status: The assessment criteria for B-Class have been changed. {{WikiProject Germany}} template now has 5 switches, B-Class-1 through B-Class-5 that correspond to 5 easily checked criteria that an article should meet to be assessed as B-Class. The advantage of this system is that now there is a clear boundary between Start-Class and B-Class articles. Authors of articles that were assessed as Start-Class now get more direct feedback what they should improve to attain a B-Class rating. All of our B-Class, Start-Class and Stub-Class articles now need to be checked whether they meet any of the B-Class criteria. This is a major effort, and we need your help! If you want to help, but don't know how, please post at the project talkpage. Cities and municipalities task force A task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities has been started and is looking for help.

Here are some problems I had with the aritcle:

The structure of the lead seems a bit odd to me. It makes it seem like his positing as clerk of those two judges is the most notable part of his career. I'd suggest the first sentence end with "servant" and the two first paragraphs be merged. The lead could also be just a bit more extensive.

"(Notwithstanding a common misconception, Frankfurter was not appointed to replace Brandeis. Frankfurter was the replacement for Benjamin N. Cardozo; William O. Douglas replaced Brandeis.)" I don't think that parenthesis really improves the article, because the information belongs in the articles about those judges.

I think the article drifts off from the topic. Take the "Japanese-American internment and the Korematsu brief footnote" section for example: only the the first paragraph seems to cover Fisher's role, while the rest discusses the even in general. The same is true of the first two paragraphs as well as the last in the "The firing of General Douglas MacArthur" section.--Carabinieri 14:36, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
