Welcome to Wikipedia!!!

edit
Hi, Carlo ms06, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

Additional tips

edit

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Hillsong image

edit

I notice you're having some difficulty with the image (and I think I accidently interupted your process with an edit - sorry!). Can I be of any assistance? Akradecki 03:40, 20 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hillsong albums

edit

Hi, I notice you have modified the track listing on the Hillsong album articles, such as making the song titles bold/italic and putting the full names of the authors. While I commend your enthusiasm, please note the articles were following the Albums Wikiproject (see the discussion page from any album article), which states album names should be italicised and in quotes (e.g. "You Are My World", song names in quotes but not italicised (e.g. "Glorious"). For the authors of songs, the first time they are mentioned, we use the full name (and link if possible), and from then on, just the surname. Please see more details from the project page WikiProject Albums. Thanks, Marky1981 10:55, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've fixed (reverted) these articles. Please don't change them back. Thanks. Marky1981 21:18, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Caution

edit

Please do not persist in adding nonsense text to articles, as you have twice now with Marty Sampson. This can be construed as vandalism. Thanks. Akradecki 01:14, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Note about headings

edit

Please note that per the WP:MOS, only the first word should be capitalized, unless they are proper nouns. Therefore, on Hillsong United, it should be "The band" and "The youth pastors" instead of "The Band" and "The Youth Pastors". Just letting you know. SKS2K6 04:07, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Note about song titles

edit

As per the Manual of Style, please note that song title should not be italicized nor bolded, unless the article is about that song. It would be awesome if you could fix all the song titles on all the Hillsong United pages. Thanks. SKS2K6 04:16, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Brooke Fraser

edit

Hey! I can see that you're trying to help by adding to the Brooke Fraser page and the help is much appreciated, however when citing years for songs, the year noted should always be the year of the album in question's wide release. In the case of United We Stand, even though the album was recorded at encounterfest 2005, the album's release was in 2006. This is possibly something that could be seen as semantic, but it's just in following the manual of style (i.e. WP:MOS) and the guidelines set out in WP:ALBUMS. I'm going to change the songs and albums to their appropriate years accordingly. --lincalinca 23:43, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to the Philippines

edit

Hi. Please stop changing Roman Catholicism to Christianity in the Philippines articlediff since the country's predominant religion is in fact Roman Catholicism. Although Roman Catholicism is a Christian church, most country articles are specific as to which particular church is dominant in the said country. --Edward Sandstig 08:37, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Philippines

edit

The constitution says "Filipino" is the national language, while the gov.ph reference says Tagalog is one of the auxiliary languages. And Roman Catholicism with 81% is the predominant religion. --Howard the Duck 04:36, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hillsong United albums

edit

Please do NOT continue to change the years of the albums. The year associated with an album is its release date, not its recorded date, as per WP:ALBUM.

The following are the correct years;

  • 1999: Everyday
  • 2000: Best Friend
  • 2001: King of Majesty
  • 2002: To the Ends of the Earth
  • 2004: More Than Life
  • 2005: Look to You
  • 2006: United We Stand
  • 2007: All of the Above

Note that In A Valley By The Sea is NOT the annual Hillsong United worship album it is an EP, with "the summercamp experience" as a sub title on the cover. This is still a Hillsong United release but is NOT a way to average out the albums to have one release per year.Tatie2189 04:13, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hades / Demeter

edit

Would you be able to provide a printed or otherwise more credible reference for your inclusion of Hades on the list? The web sources that are linked on this article disagree with each other as to whether Hades was an Olympian god or not. The claim would have more weight if it had a proper third party reference. I have added a request for comment from other Wiki editors about this on the articles talk page as well. Thanks for your contributions. Brando130 (talk) 02:42, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

January 2008

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2007-08 NBA season. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Chris! ct 05:08, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked for a period of 24 hours for violating the Three Reverts Rule on 2007-08 NBA season. You may resume editing after the block expires, but continued edit warring will result in longer blocks without further warning. Kafziel Talk 08:57, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Warriors

edit

Hey. I reverted your edits to Golden State Warriors and {{Golden State Warriors}} because you didn't cite any sources to back up your claims. Al Harrington was originally the 6th man of the Warriors because of Webber, but this has changed according to the San Francisco Chronicle. ("Al Harrington moves back into the starting lineup, where he always preferred to be, and to his natural power-forward spot.") Also, check out this article from ESPN.com: "The Golden State Warriors named Jackson as one of its three team captains, along with Baron Davis and Matt Barnes." Do you have any sources that state that Barnes is no longer captain? Bash Kash (talk) 06:09, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability and Neutral Point of View

edit

WP:NOTE:

  • "Presumed" means if there is substantive coverage in multiple independent reliable sources, then we presume the topic is notable. However, a subject that is presumed to be notable may still not be suitable for inclusion. For example, it may violate what Wikipedia is not.
  • "Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, and no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than trivial but may be less than exclusive.
  • "Reliable" means sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability.
  • "Sources," defined on Wikipedia as secondary sources, provide the most objective evidence of notability. The number and nature of reliable sources needed varies depending on the depth of coverage and quality of the sources. Multiple sources are generally preferred.
  • "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc.

WP:NPOV: All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. This is non-negotiable and expected of all articles, and of all article editors.

Hillsong Musicians

edit

You deleted Brooke Fraser as a worship leader on the basis that you say she is not one of the main leaders. The Sunday night just past, 27 July 2008, Brooke led the worship (singing) at the 4:30pm and 6:30pm services. During the 6:30pm, Brian Houston prayed for Brooke and husband Scott in advance of their trip to the USA for Brooke's concert tour, and that morning during the 9:00am service Houston said that Brooke would be leading the evening worship and that they had told Brooke to just "be Brooke" - he was expecting a great night.

I think you should re-instate Brooke Fraser as a worship leader on the Hillsong Musicians page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Newtaste (talkcontribs) 14:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

You added some Kobe Bryant images that are likely to be deleted. You may have a chance at keeping Image:Kobe shoot5.jpg if you can justify needing a shot of him shooting, but I doubt the Chris Paul image will be kept.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 21:42, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lakers for GA

edit

Hi, i nominated the laker article for a GA, but it wasn't listed. Can you help improve it, so i can renominate it for a GA, if you can, please see this for help. Since the lakers are a historic and succesful franchise, i think they should have a better article. Maybe we could nominate it for a Featured Article. Thank you. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Magic&Michael.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.  Asenine  11:24, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
