Help me!

edit

Please help me with... Hi, I am trying to add a section on festivities to the page Ciudad Sahagun for a spanish class assignment but I cannot figure out how. All the options I see are to "edit code" of the already existing sections. I need to create a new section, though. (Do I have to use code, as well? Because I don't know how to do that...) Thanks! Check out Help:Section#Creation_and_numbering_of_sections to learn how to add sections to articles. You can then use our WP:SANDBOX to test your newly acquired knowledge before editing an actual article. 78.28.54.83 (talk) 08:06, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi! It looks like you're trying to add a new section to the article for Ciudad Sahagún, right? To copy content over, you have to have both pages open in edit mode, then copy and paste the content over. However before you do that, I do have a few notes:

My main note is that not all of the content in the section is sourced. This is very important because it will back up your claims and also show that these are important festivals for the city. Also, with writing, make sure to avoid using 'you' - per guidelines you should avoid writing styles that come across like we're writing from the viewpoint of a single person to a specific one, if that makes sense. The link above goes to the policy, which has a few more details. In any case, this looks to be just with the pilgrimage in December. You could re-write this as follows:

On December 12 the city celebrates the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe by performing a pilgrimage through the city's streets to the main church located in front of Rodrigo Gómez Square. In anticipation of the event allegorical floats are created and adorned with flowers. On the day of the event the floats are paraded down the streets and pilgrims carry images of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the main church, where they will be placed prior to the parish priest presiding over a special mass. Afterwards, participants watch a fireworks show.

I expanded this a little to further specify what the day was about, specifically that it was a feast day accompanied by a pilgrimage (to either the Basilica in Mexico City or a symbolic one). This still needs tweaking of course, since this was kind of a quick re-write example, and it also needs sourcing to back up the claims. I hope that this helps! Thank You!

edit

Wow, thank you for actually providing me with an answer! No matter where I looked I couldn't figure out the answer. I made a really short change to my paragraph to remove the "you" as you explained it was against the guidelines. I am graded on my translation submission which needs to be as close to the written Spanish version as possible so I still published what I had written with the 3 sources. (What I'm trying to say is I couldn't expound on the holidays and provide explanations or such as I needed to follow specific class guidelines). Feel free to add more eventually if they are needed. Thank you again very much for your help. You helped more than the modules or even my professor!
