Old Magazine Articles?

edit

{{helpme}} I have copies of old (1950) magazine articles that I would like to scan and add to the wikipedia for reference purposes.

Can this be done easily by giving credit to the original publication?

Could you point me to an example?

Thanks. Casmeli (talk) 02:17, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Images are very complicated due to copyright and stuff. In short: unless you have proof the copyright for the articles has expired, you should not scan them and upload them here. Now, in a few rare cases, we can use them under fair use, but that is a whole separate topic and I'd avoid getting into it at this point. Of course, you can always use the magazine articles as references in articles, but you probably can't actually scan them onto Wikipedia. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 02:30, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ribbon Devices Templates?

edit

I am creating an article on a military person, and I am using the "Robin Olds" page as a model. At the end there is a section on military ribbons which uses Ribbon devices.

My question is, where do you find the original source for this template? I would like to know what devices are available, but don't know how to find the complete list.

File permission problem with File:Clyde B. East in Replica of Lil' Margaret.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Clyde B. East in Replica of Lil' Margaret.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:26, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Amentini Motors

edit

The article Amentini Motors has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability for this routine car dealership,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DGG ( talk ) 00:23, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

This article has been nominated for deletion before. I have since improved the article, as recommended. It has now been nominated again. I am a neophyte here, but a second nomination appears to conflict with the following from WP:PROD

No objections have been raised on the talk page. The article is eligible for proposed deletion: the page is not a redirect, never previously proposed for deletion, never undeleted, and never discussed at AfD.

I have objected. The article . . . was previously proposed for deletion.

Please see the edit history to confirm what I have said here. Thanks. Casmeli (talk) 16:18, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

An article should indeed be proposed for deletion only once since that process is for uncontroversial deletions. This time it is instead nominated for a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Amentini Motors to establish a community consensus on whether the article should be deleted or not. You are welcome to comment there based on the deletion policy. Huon (talk) 16:57, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) Hello. The first deletion nomination was a proposed deletion, used for uncontroversial deletion, because the tagger, DGG, did not think the article met Wikipedia's notability guidelines. You removed it because you objected to it, but there is another method of deletion: Articles for deletion, where a discussion will take place to decide whether or not the article should be deleted. SwisterTwister, the nominator, said on the deletion discussion page: "Still nothing at all actually convincing and substantial despite DGG's PROD removed, it only lasted a limited amount of time, and contributing to the fact it was a local business, there's nothing at all actually suggestive for better.". If you have any questions, you can send a message to SwisterTwister here. —MRD2014 T C 17:02, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
