Hi CatbugTwo

I've just reverted an edit you made to Windshield. You added a link to a commercial website advertising its services (NRMA). In the edit description I called this linkspam. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and although such links may seem useful in some way, Wikipedia is not the place for advertising material, or links to it, as that policy link makes clear. I note that you have made a number of similar edits, and I propose to revert them all. I wouldn't want you to be discouraged from editing WP, but you need to familiarise yourself with the policies and concepts that WP runs on. Machina.sapiens (talk) 10:03, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Lake Tekapo. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. —hike395 (talk) 06:12, 19 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest policy

edit

  Hello, CatbugTwo. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 15:14, 28 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
