Speedy deletion nomination of Lincoln County Humane Society
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Lincoln County Humane Society requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ...William 16:12, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Ontario SPCA", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 19:01, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- This username does not pose a conflict of interest because the Ontario SPCA provides essential services for animals that are enforced by legislation. The legislation enforced by the Ontario SPCA is supported and enforced by the Canadian government. The legislation operates on both the federal and provincial level. The federal legislation is controlled by the Criminal Code of Canada. In the Criminal Code of Canada, under Cruelty to Animals, Section 445.1(1) the legislation indicates the federal laws pertaining to animal cruelty. The provincial legislation in the province of Ontario, is the Ontario SPCA Act. This mandates the Society to enforce animal cruelty laws and provides Society Branch and Affiliate investigators with police powers to do so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ontario SPCA (talk • contribs) 19:56, 18 March 2013
- All that may be so, but Wikipedia accounts must be for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them, and accounts representing organizations, or whose usernames are names of groups or organizations, are not permitted - see WP:GROUPNAME and WP:NOSHARE. Please select a username which will represent only you as an individual, and request a change of username at WP:Changing username. If more than one person wishes to edit, each will require an account. Even with a new username, the fact that your organization is a "good cause" and has the backing of the Canadian government does not exempt you from following Wikipedia's guidelines WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. Wikipedia is a project to build an encyclopedia, not a noticeboard for organizations to tell the world about themselves. JohnCD (talk) 16:23, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. How do you go about requesting a new user name? I have searched Wikipedia and am having difficulty finding this information.

- Hi again, I have moved your article to my userspace. The article as it stands right now would have certainly been deleted. Looking on the internet I found a few sources that may help claim the articles notability. For now you can access your page at User:TempName1/Lincoln County Humane Society. I will start editing it tomorrow and we will see what we can do. TempName1 (talk) 21:59, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
