The article Pallavi Banerjee has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While accomplished, currently there are zero in-depth sources from independent, reliable, secondary sources, and searches did not turn up any, so fails WP:GNG, and with an h-Index of 4 and low citation counts, fails WP:NSCHOLAR.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onel5969 TT me 11:51, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Onel5969 , I appreciate you taking the time to review my Wikipedia page. Please forgive my ignorance as this is the first page I've ever created. If you don't mind me asking, in what way are the secondary sources considered "not reliable"? I've retrieved all of these sources, including "Theorizing Feminism from the South" by Gouws and Mohanty's "Under Western Eyes" (which over 2,000 people have cited), from Google Scholar, Jstor, and university libraries. Is there anywhere else you recommend I look for reliable sources? Obviously, I do not want my page to get deleted, especially when so many female sociologists like Banerjee are underrepresented. Thanks. Cb21519 (talk) 16:09, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- Cb21519, I've now nominated the page for deletion. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pallavi Banerjee. Wikipedia has notability guidelines, which all articles should meet. For Banerjee, the most likely ones are WP:NPROF and WP:NAUTHOR. For WP:NPROF, I'd normally be expecting three academic works with several hundred citations, as I don't think this is such a low citation field. For WP:NAUTHOR, I'd be expecting two books with at least two reviews each. I will additionally comment that every fact in the article should be backed by a citation to a reliable source and non-primary source. I'm seeing a "Major contributions" section that has only sparse sources, all primary. You should feel free to contribute to the deletion discussion (again, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pallavi Banerjee); if so, I'd recommend writing 1-3 paragraphs as to why one of the Wikipedia notability guidelines is met.
